Q: what type of wiring is used with this product

These contacts are designed to be connected to a burglar alarm control panel, examples of these are listed in the bullet points. You would normally use a minimum of 4 core alarm cable, never telephone cable as I have seen some do. Two of the wires in the cable are connected to two terminals of a normally closed alarm zone in the control panel. The other two wires can be connected to the tamper circuit if it's going to be included. There is no set colour code for the wiring each alarm engineer normally uses their own. At the contact end the two alarm zone wires are connected to the two silver screw terminals. The two tamper circuit wires, if used are twisted together and connected to any of the spare brass coloured terminal screws. As an experienced alarm engineer, I would like to point out, when connecting to the silvers your wire should go between the screw head and the washer, never under the washer as stated by someone previously. If you put wires under the washer it could snag on the small reed switch wire causing the contact to fail. Hopefully that answers your questions comprehensively and possibly gives a little clarity to the correct installation.

Hello here we go. Fitting reed switch to door frame and magnet to door. Your cable from alarm unit use 4 of the cores. White & Blue Green & Yellow. Looking at the switch you only need to wire 3 of the 5 screws. The 2 silver screws you will see the reed switch is connected to wire the blue and white to each of these. The centre screw connect the green and yellow together on this screw. This is your tamper loop. Ignore the 2 outer screws. Note wrap well the wires around each screw in a clockwise direction under the washers. Now in the alarm unit wire the main entry door to zone 1. Blue and white from your switch. Do same for door 2 and wire to zone 2 or a free zone position. Now connect the green wires from each door to the tamper connection. If a link is in remove it. And connect the yellow wires together simply twist together and wrap with insulating tape. This gives you a tamper proof loop if any of the wires are cut the tamper alarm will sound. Job done hope this helps.

Yes they do, along with most alarm panels. I'm sure it mentions this in the listing description but if you're viewing on a mobile, it's not always easy to find.

replacement switches for existing alarm system

nothing lasts forever. Our alarm became faulty and I traced it back to faulty door and window switches. (after 26 years can't complain) easy to fit replacements but?check switch function "before" fitting. I had 2 new ones that didn't work properly. the very tiny switch failed to respond to the magnet. As they were cheap enough I just ordered some more. Job done

Bought to replace a 20+ year old sensor that had failed. Arrived quickly, was easy to fit, worked straight away, and had another spare left over for less than a fiver. No instruction leaflet supplied, but the alarm connection instructions are on the product description.

They work as expected

I tested these door contacts and they work as expected at a good price.Unfortunately they aren't a drop in replacement for my old door contact which has a few resistors and a switch inside it too. So double check what's actually inside your door sensor before buying a replacement :)
