At the end of the day, anything that keeps you cooler and helps you avoid heat exhaustion or worse, sun stroke, is a major benefit. I play a lot of golf, in both hot weather and the rain, and this helps in both cases. The wide brim provides protection in both cases and it's light enough to roll up and pack without taking up a lot of space. Another benefit is that you can soak it and then wear it to assist in an even quicker cooling. I guess there's not a lot you can say about a "hat" but if you spend a lot of time outside in the warmer weather, it's one that's better to have and not need, than to need it and not have it. I did notice them on sale at Lowes the other day, but they were more expensive than they are online. You just have to wait a little longer for them to arrive. :)

I bought this hat to shade my face while in the pool. It provides plenty of coverage and is a bit sturdier than those floppy wide brimmed bucket hats. The brim on this hat can be shaped. I like that feature.
