Hard to find but worth the trouble
I ordered this phone because it was set up for the digital charge over. I went for this model as it has an amplified ringing tone What I am really impressed with is the slow button This slows the callers speech without distorting it Which is a boon as so many call centres have agents that speak to fast or you can't understand what they are saying. Or Both. It is an expensive unit however it can be found on promotion if you can wait and look around Take your time,it is worth it.

Loud ringer and easy to set up
My dad is very hard of hearing. These phones have a very loud ringer. The base phone/unit and the additional handsets were very easy to set up.

Very nice, just too heavy.
The phones are sadly too heavy, which is not great with my arthritis, but the rest of the phone functions are brilliant. They're very solidly put together, I just wish they'd made then a bit lighter, that's all. The sound is good, and the hand-free is very clear, Age range, I'd say for older people, but still too heavy, that's the only negative with the phone.

Effective for elderly or disabled
Lots of features make setting up time consuming (70 page user manual), however, once set up the range of features come together to make a very good aid to telephone use. The amplification is great and flexible. Incoming speech can be slowed slightly ( we've all come across callers that babble). Visual cues are also useful. Basically, masses of selectable features to make this a great purchase for my elderly mum. Not cheap by any means but buy with confidence

Good but could be excellent
This handset has some impressive accessibility features which are worth having if you need them. So why the 2 star rating? It is claimed by Panasonic to be Digital Voice ready - not quite is my opinion this is because you need to plug the base station into the router phone socket so HD sound quality isn't as good with this connection type. It is possible to connect to a third party DECT base unit to get HD sound however many of the display features and some accessibility features will not work. So either get all features and loose HD sound quality with Digital Voice or compromise on features with a third party DECT base unit. I choose the third party Base station as this works best for me using the display information from another manufacturers phone. Who said modern technology was great?

Navigation controls could be better
This is almost perfect for the older user. With large illuminated number buttons, large display text, a loud ringer, flashing lights, spoken announcements, and configurable volume boost. The only thing letting it down is the navigation control button, which is not illuminated and features quite small icons. This is used to access important functions like the Phone Book and Caller List and then navigate through these. The 4-way rocker button doubles as a directional control but is not marked as such. It is fiddly to operate if eyesight or dexterity is not the best. It is a shame that more thought wasn't given to this aspect of the design given that otherwise the phone has excellent accessibility features.
