It is a nice pipe however I discovered the pipe portion of the pipe had a piece of the pipe where the stem goes into the pipe was broken.

My husband loves his pipe! All of the items were included. The only thing he doesn't love about it is that it is a little heavy. I'm sure if we get a pipe stand (so he doesn't have to hold it the entire time he is smoking) that would fix the issue. Definitely recommend, especially if you want something with a bit of weight to it.

Very satisfied with my purchase

I really want to love this pipe. It is beautiful, inexpensive, and has the look and feel that I'm going for. The one pictured is the second one that I've received because the first one broke immediately when inserting the stem into the shank. The tenon is well formed, symmetrical, and smooth, so I feel that the problem is the receiving hole in the shank being a fraction of a millimeter too small. This is also the thinnest and most vulnerable part of the bowl. I feel that possibly the grain pattern of the wood has played a role here, but this piece is meant to be detachable hundreds of times over the life of the pipe, and it's just not stable enough even for the initial assembly. When I called for a replacement, that Amazon handled quickly and smoothly, the second one had exactly the same problem and I now feel that this is a design issue. Some people in other reviews have described their pipe performing excellently, and I feel those are the outliers not these broken ones.

I'm a novice pipe smoker. A buddy of mine has been smoking for years and is showing me the ropes. Since I'm not super familiar with pipe smoking, I showed him this pipe kit and he thought it was great, especially for beginners. It comes with pretty much everything you need to get started:- Pipe- 3-in-one tool with tamper, needle, and scraper- Pipe Reamer (my buddy recommend not to use this since it can remove too much from the inside of the bowl, and some of that is desired)- Pipe cleaners- Filters (apparently many pipe smokers don't use these)- Pipe screens (also not really needed)- Stem covers (I don't think I'll use these either)- Carrying pouchI finally had the chance to break it in. It takes some practice to get a feel for packing the pipe, doing the initial char, tamping, relighting, etc. So far I've found it to be an enjoyable experience. This pipe is great for me for a few reasons:- Inexpensive.- Long Stem (I have a beard and this lets me keep the flame away from my face)- Good quality (there are more expensive options sure, but this is a good starter pipe)- It looks coolThe downsides are very minor.- The stem fits very snugly into the pipe bowl. This makes it hard to take apart for cleaning, and hard to push it all the way back in. I feel like this will get better over time. If not, I may try to shave a tiny bit from the inside of the female part with my Dremel.- The cloth pouch barely holds the pipe when it's assembled.Neither of those cons warrant docking any stars. You might also want to pickup a lighter made just for pipe (I got a Zippo here on Amazon), and also a pipe stand so you can set it down without it tipping over. You'll of course need to get some tobacco as well (the one in the picture smells great)If you are new to pipe smoking or considering getting into it, you can't go wrong with this kit.
