Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage Terrarium Pop-up 12" x 14" Tall

My purchase was for three reasons: to be able to watch the beauty of nature unfold before my eyes and to be able to teach my grandchildren more about nature and to answer a need for my 8 yr old grandson who is our little scientist. This butterfly habitat is the perfect size for our small home, was inexpensive but very well made and I love the idea that it has a hand size zipper door on the side as well as the zippered top that allows easy access for cleaning and attending. It's also very handy that it readily collapses when not in use and is held closed with velcro. Putting it up is a breeze; just unfasten the velcro and the habitat pops into shape. Great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone interested in butterflies.

I highly recommend this cage if you are raising Monarch caterpillars to release. The top has dual zippers that unzip completely for ease of cleaning, restocking milkweed and releasing butterflies. One hint - be sure to close it so that the zippers meet directly across from the "hinged" side to make it easier to access the inside once you have chrysalises on the top. The side zip door is also very handy. Great product.

Great bug habitat! We ended up getting the taller rectangle habitat because it has a plastic, see-through viewing panel so it’s better for seeing the bugs. Otherwise, if you are looking for a cage that is not so tall, this is great! Our leaf bugs needed more space than this, but it would work great for caterpillars. My favorite feature is that the top unzips almost all the way around! This makes it much easier to add things to the cage. It’s also nice if the bug is on one side of the zipper because you can open it on the other side. I like the little door as well. Definitely a sturdy little cage!

I have raised several thousand butterflies of different species from eggs. This is a great size and design. The double entry is a must!! The mesh is very fine to keep in the new hatched. The solid fabric bottom is a great help at clean up time.

We bought this for the many monarch caterpillars that we had in our yard. We were unsuccessful with the first batch, but the cage was easy to clean and we tried again! Just put it in the sink with dish soap and it cleaned right up! The second set of caterpillars were happy in here and made their chrysalis on the top. They had no problems crawling in this cage or attaching to the top. It was easy for me to get to them through the top and side access. We even had one that had his cocoon fall and I was easily able to attach it back to the top with a stick pin. We can't wait to use this year after year!!!

This is the perfect size for raising a few monarchs. I own a few larger mesh cages but, this size is perfect the double zipper entry is another big plus!

I successfully raised a Monarch butterfly from larva to release in this cage, which worked perfectly. I know that people can raise more than one and the cage is easy to clean. I do not plan to raise more than one or two at a time, but the cage could accommodate several caterpillars, as long as none of them might have disease, in which case they should be isolated.
