High hopes but sadly no results with this food for my obese dog…
My dog is overweight so several months ago I switched to Purina Pro Plan Weight Management wet and dry dog food and set up a subscribe and save plan. I mix a small spoonful of wet food with her dry weight management kibble (same brand) because she’s picky and doesn’t like just dry food. I measure her food precisely every feeding and have discussed with my veterinarian the appropriate amount to feed her to reduce her weight. So far, I’ve seen no change except she’s hungry all the time. She’s not losing any weight. If I give her any less, I think she’ll be starving all day. I rarely give treats to her because she’s so overweight. She is fed only her dog food every morning and night. She’s a 42+ lb Boston Terrier and my vet has set her goal weight between 28-30 lbs. She’s been tested repeatedly for health issues and is fine. She’s just obese. She likes this food, but I’m at a loss as to why she’s not losing weight. I do believe Purina Pro Plan offers a quality product…something just isn’t working for my dog so I’m probably going to have to try something different. Unrelated to my dog’s weight issue, I have a product concern. I’ve received so many cans of this dog food that are seriously dented with mangled labels, I’m beginning to think I’m receiving an inferior product (or not the real thing). I’ve had to throw away numerous cans because I thought the seal was compromised due to the excessive dents in the cans and I certainly don’t want my dog to get food poisoning. It’s not cheap food and the “bent and dent” cans keep coming in every single order so I’m considering canceling this subscription and setting it up with a local store. If I return the case of food to Amazon (I was told can’t return just the damaged cans from the case), I end up having to go to the store to buy it anyway, but at least I can make sure the cans aren’t damaged

Low fat for pancreatitis prone dogs
My pug had pancreatitis, and so he has to be on a low fat diet for life. He was prescribed hills I/d stew, and likes it, but it gets pricey and local stores made buying RX diet a hassle. I felt it was necessary to find him something comparable that I didn’t need a prescription to buy. After some research I switched him to this to stay with the low fat stew, and he has done great on it. It comes in beef, chicken, or turkey and he enjoys them all. The Rx food is around 60 per 12 pack so this has been a significant savings as well.
