Excellent machine! Great purchase!!
Love this machine!! It works really well, is quiet and distills ~1.5 gallons more quickly than expected. It’s well made and after almost 2 weeks of daily use, I’ve had no issues with it. I believe it should hold up well. The operation and maintenance are simple. It’s saved me a lot of time and effort lugging gallons of water from the store, and it should pay for itself in just a few months. I’m extremely happy with the purchase!

The distiller is working well for me
The distiller is working well. I use distilled water in my CPAP machine and my bedroom humidifier (and not for drinking or cooking, so I don't care about taste, if any). I've used the distiller for about a month and have done 6 gallons with no problems. I fill the distiller after every use with tap water and small amounts of white vinegar and citric acid powder and let it soak for a few hours. It has come out perfectly clean every time. The distiller fan is a bit noisy, but not disturbingly so. It's not louder than my HVAC system. It's background white noise to me. I bought a small (2.36") funnel on Amazon (Nomatox Small Funnel Set) to replace the clumsy discharge cap that sits on the bottle. Then I found, if I center the bottle opening directly under the distiller water outlet, with no discharge cap or funnel, the water will drip nicely into the bottle. I don't know what the discharge cap is good for; perhaps to keep strong breezes from blowing the water drops around, or to keep the cat from drinking?

Overall, I do really like the VIVOHOME Water Distiller!
Not sure how I want to rate this Water Distiller. I will start with things that need to be worked on. The cap that goes over the water canister. When you put it on top of the water canister, there's a small margin for error. I placed it on, started it, and came back much later, and the water was leaking down the counter onto my wood floor. I was not a happy camper, but I should have looked more closely at the downspout's position. After cleaning up the mess, I started to look at everything. Looking at the metal cap, there is a V-shaped piece of metal on the top to funnel water into the canister. The V should be facing out so it forms a funnel/trough, but when I turned it the way I thought it would work, that V funnel was on the far side of the hole, not even close to the downspout. I was confused why it had to be the other way. Then I spotted that the bottom of the Distiller's canister was wider than the top, and the plastic water canister, and they were hitting each other, making the hole the water needed to go into further away. So if the Water Distiller were higher, it would work better. I placed my rigid plastic cutting board under the Water Distiller. But that didn't make the downspout closer to the V funnel. I placed one of the rubber legs under the Water Distiller in the juice grove around my cutting board, which shifted it over the water canister and the V-funnel, lining it up much better. So what is my opinion? The solution is to make the Water Distiller canister top and bottom the same size. I am sure they did it this way to make it more stable due to the weight distribution. I think if they make the Water Distiller heaver on the base it would solve the problem. I have a H2O Labs Water Distiller, and the bottom is heavier. Now, to what I like about this Water Distiller. First, the capacity is 1.6 gallons, versus 1 gallon for most Water distillers. The made a handle in the lid so it is much easier to remove the top from the bottom. The VIVOHOME Water Distiller seems much faster than my H2o Labs Water Distiller. The power cord is good. On my H2o, Labs, it is shorter, which limits where I can place it. With that said, I really do like the VIVOHOME Water Distiller. I'm not quite sure how to rate this Water Distiller, so I'll start with areas that I think could use some improvement. One issue is the cap that fits over the water canister. When you place it on top, there's very little margin for error. I started the distiller and, when I returned later, I found water leaking down the counter onto my wood floor. Understandably, I was not happy. However, I realized I should have paid closer attention to the downspout's position. After cleaning up the mess, I examined everything more closely. The metal cap has a V-shaped piece on top that is supposed to funnel water into the canister. The V should be facing outward to create a proper funnel, but when I positioned it as I thought it should, the V funnel ended up on the far side of the hole, far from the downspout. This confused me, as it seemed the other way around should be the case. Then I noticed that the bottom of the distiller's canister is wider than the top, causing it to collide with the plastic water canister. This misalignment pushed the hole through which the water needed to flow farther away, which is why the distiller would perform better if it were higher. I placed a rigid plastic cutting board under the Water Distiller, but that didn’t bring the downspout closer to the V funnel. Eventually, I propped one of the rubber legs under the distiller on the juice groove of my cutting board, which shifted it over the water canister and aligned the V funnel much better. So, what’s my opinion? The solution would be to make the top and bottom of the Water Distiller canister the same size. I assume the current design is intended for stability due to weight distribution, but I think adding more weight to the base would solve the issue. I have an H2O Labs Water Distiller, and its base is heavier. Now, let's talk about what I like about this Water Distiller. First, it has a capacity of 1.6 gallons, compared to just 1 gallon for most water distillers. The lid also has a handle, making it much easier to remove the top from the bottom. Additionally, the VIVOHOME Water Distiller seems to operate much faster than my H2O Labs distiller. The power cord is also longer, giving me more flexibility in choosing a placement.

Works well and Quiet
This is my first water distiller and after 5 cycles it has worked perfectly and is surprisingly quiet. The one glitch I found is that the spout doesn’t line up with the metal cap or the collection bottle. Easy fix with a wooden spoon under bottle to lean it a little and leave the cap off.

Never buy distilled water again!
I have been extremely satisfied with the VIVOHOME water distiller, despite some initial reservations in buying one. My family and I live in a very dry, high desert climate, and run a couple of high volume humidifiers. Our tap water is also hard and has a strong chlorine taste. I got very tired of getting nickeled and dimed to death on $2-3+ gallon bottles of distilled water, and just did the math on buying a distiller. I honestly don’t know why more people don’t own one now, after a few months of use! Each batch nearly fills a one gallon bottle to the top, so the water capacity is perfect. The water tastes and smells like distilled water, which is to say it doesn’t taste or smell like anything. The bottle is easy to use, it has never leaked a drop, and the self-contained, clean looks are great. Cleaning takes almost no time, just use 1-2 teaspoons of citric acid, HOT water, and turn it on for about 15 minutes. The hard water residue fizzles away nicely. I haven’t timed exactly how long it takes to distill a gallon, but my guess would be about 2-3 hours. Seems to be faster if you use hot water (obviously). As with any device that heats water to boiling, use common sense—don’t go pulling the lid off right or dumping water in to clean right after it finishes distilling. THE IMPORTANT PART: aside of whatever the cost is for electricity, citric acid, and filters, we haven’t spent a penny on distilled water since buying this awesome tool. After we distilled enough to pay for it, it’s now saving us money. We kept about 12 gallon bottles and one for tap water, and now have 12 gallons of emergency water on hand as well. If you’re in an area with questionable or nasty tap water, this will be much cheaper than a water filter (we tested that as well). Though some people say that dH2O can be hard on the stomach, I haven’t experienced it, nor can I find any studies to confirm. The only thing missing would be essential minerals. Fine by me, as the chlorine taste also disappears. If you’re on the fence like I was, go for it! You won’t be disappointed, and it’s super easy to clean and maintain, and you won’t have to needlessly buy a bunch of 1 gallon bottles.

Absolutely do not recommend
So sorry there is not a zero stars option. Absolutely the worst product I have ever bought. I bought this one because it came highly recommended. It is sitting on a perfectly flat level surface and is correctly installed, and only about half of the water goes into the tank while the rest of it runs all over the counter, drip by drip. I tried turning around the metal receiving angle, then propping up the side away from the distillery by about a half an inch, as recommended by the company, and more water is going into the receiving tank now, but I should not have to do this. All it would take would be for the manufacturer to make the distribution spout about a half inch longer and all the water would go into the tank but they cheaped out by shortening the spout. It takes forever for 1 gallon of water to be processed, and then I only have about half of a gallon because the rest is all over the countertop. Very disappointed. Oh, and as some people have mentioned, it is loud but I'm not bothered by that. I'm bothered by a simple adjustment that the company could make that would keep this from happening. As the manufacturer shows, the open side of the receiving metal angle is facing toward the distiller. They discuss that one way of taking care of this problem is to turn out so that it faces the other way. That's not the way the product was built; they also suggest propping up the side away from the distiller. You shouldn't have to do that when you're on a level surface. Note a toothbrush underside is being used to prop up a tank because this seemed to be the right size.Junk junk junk!

Two in one - water distiller and space heater
I use this to distill the water for my daughters air purifier. Works well, can see that it pulls the yuck from the water. It's a little loud, sounds like a space heater - funnily enough it doubles as one too in my wife's office.

VIVOHOME Water Distiller Countertop with Smart Switch Black
Just received this about a week ago. I'm hrough the cleansing process, AND, Very Happy compared to the last distiller I replaced. Not the same Brand. It is matte black and I am happy with my choice. It's so easy to use. (this is not a complicated machine) But, I am surprised my last one lasted so long. The electrical cords work. I don't have to push into place. I check them, plug into the outlet, press the black button on the front. I am so happy with this. I will keep you posted on my ongoing relationship with this distiller. If any problems, I will update this posting. I chose this model because I didn't want the cockpit of an airplane. Read your instructions; they proved helpful. At this moment, I would definitely recommend it. If performance continues, I will repurchase if this model or similar is available. Of course, I obviously enjoy the water. (I do remineralize every other batch.) PS It comes loaded with a filter, but you have to purchase your own when it is time to change. Definitely recommend.
