FINIS Tempo Trainer Pro - Waterproof Audible Swim Metronome - Adjustable Stroke Tempo - 3 Training Modes

My older daughters swim at their highest age group level their team has to offer them and utilize TT (Tempo Trainers) daily. I had a trainer for each of them, but the battery went and it was more cost effective to get them each a new one. The replacement batteries are not reliable and have too many swimmers saying their TT doesn't work. At this price I am hoping to be able to get a year's use out of them.

I was super hype for this item. I planned on using it to help guide me to a consistent, faster pace running. I received it 30 April. Opened it and headed out. I read the instructions and was pretty confident I could get it going. Tried to turn it on. No luck. Tried repeatedly and finally it just blinked on. Thought that was werid but hey it was working. Got the pace I wanted and was very happy. Finished the run. Turned it off and it never turned on again. Worked ONCE. I asked for a replacement and will update when it comes. Fingers crossed because when it did work it helped me alot. Reported the issue to Amazon. They had a new one out the next day...it works amazing. It helps me stay on stride. Love it.

Love these! as a swim coach tempo is crucial to keeping speed or to work on timing out a stroke. I have all my kids purchase these for the season. This is completely water resistant (unless the battery isn't closed properly, its easy to do it right). If it breaks for non user error issues, I have never had an issue getting a replacement with the company. There are 3 modes for training. I usually use the first mode which is pretty exact to a metronome. It is great to help kids with fly or breaststroke, kick timing for free. My only recommendation is that you don't put the item directly on your ear. You'll hear it in the water if it simply in your cap. Trust me.

I am an Ironman and open water swimmer. I'm not world class, but swimming is my best discipline out of the three in a triathlon. The Finis Tempo trainer helps with CSS, one of my favorite methods of swim training. It helps develop muscle memory on speed, cadence and "feel" of the pace you intend to swim. If you need to work on stroke count, you can easily do so. Naturally, my total SPM sits around 45 at my current CSS (1:17). Yeah, it's really, really slow. With the tempo trainer, my swim coach and I were able to pinpoint a "sweet spot" for my cadence, endurance and speed, pushing it to 63 SPM. Discovering this "sweet spot" has improved my swimming tremendously. When focusing on CSS, this is the tool to use 100%. No watches, no funky headphones, just pop this into your swim cap and go (AND STAY ON BEEP!!!) There is one issue I've experienced twice now. When the battery dies, it no longer remains waterproof. It is an issue Finis is aware of, not a user related problem. Finis sent a new one to replace the first one I purchased when this happened. A suggested fix is to immediately put a tiny piece of cardboard in the back after changing the battery. It puts extra pressure on the gasket that makes the assembly waterproof. If you do not do this prior to swimming, water will trickle in and ruin the trainer. I can confirm this fix is hit or miss. The swimmers on my swim team all use this tool and have experienced the same problem. Some have had success with this fix, others have not. I believe it is a manufacturing design flaw related to tolerances, not necessarily an issue with the unit itself. It is annoying to deal with, especially when they're $50+ a piece. I love swimming and this tool has helped me immensely. So, I will continue to purchase/tolerate the annoyance!

I love my tempo use it every swim

Bought two; one stopped working after less than a month of usage. Just outside of the return window. (We didn't start using it until a couple of weeks after purchase.)

I have used this for well over a year, averaging about 4 times a week in the lap pool. It took me about a year to figure out that if I lace a small tie-wrap through the tie-downs that it will not only stay in place but also be much more audible via bone-conduction. When I worn it without using the tie-downs, it would work out of position making the beeps hard or impossible to hear, and eventually tear loose from the google strap. I use a dedicated pair of googles for this product, so affixing it with a tie-wrap was not a problem. I use it for 1/2-interval timing for RPT, so I set if for ~7 seconds and it works great.

this little tool helps me to focus my swim stroke (both form and rate). I have found my comfortable stroke rate and do drills at a faster rate, keeping is smooth and steady. I am using drills from the Swim Smooth book that feature the TTP. I expect to speed my stroke rate to a more efficient speed with this tool. It is surprising that such a simple thing as setting a tempo can help me focus on form and improve my stroke. It works, I'll take it. The beep is not-at- all rasping or too loud. It is just a steady, rather quiet beep. Swimmers who are sharing a lane with me cannot hear it. This is how I use it now, though I expect it's use to change over time. I set the beeps per second that I want then slip it under my cap at the back of my head, between my goggle straps (buttons facing out). When the time comes to turn it on or change the bps, I can find the right buttons without taking it out. I also use it to count the number of seconds I hold my stretches.

Using it for just a week. I improved my tempo and shaved off 2 seconds of my average swimming speed (100 m free style). Excellent value for money.
