Black Vinyl Desk Pad, 24 x 19, Matte

The desk pad has a good look that doesn't break the bank. I love the contrast of the black against my white desk. The material used seems to be like a faux leather. Its holding up quite well and is pretty scratch resistant.One thing I wished that it had though was more of a matte/smoother finish. I bought this mat with the intention of using it as my mouse pad as well and although it is quite possible in using the desk pad as one, the mouse feels as if it is sticking to the pad as you move it around. I just ended up using a mouse pad over it.Shipping was fast and on time. It came in a giant box to ensure that the product was not bent in transit. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to organize their workspace!

It is as described, a large, matte black sheet of, well, something? Plastic? Vinyl? I'm not quite sure. Anyways, it was shipped in a flat box, so it lays perfectly flat on the desk, works with my Logitech laser mouse perfectly (slight amount of drag, not for gamer's, IMO), and very importantly, it doesn't smell!I put 4/5 because it did arrive with a scuff in the surface, but it is right under where my keyboard goes, so I'm not going to worry about it. I didn't dock the star because of THAT scuff though, I docked a star because I'm a little worried that it may be easy to scuff in the future... If it still looks good in a few months, I'll be back to edit the review.Overall, I'm happy with it. I'd recommend it.UPDATE [12-SEP-14]In short: I was able to get rid of the scuff, and the pad looks brand new after 5 months.To add to that: Although the desk pad saw minimal use for a good portion of the summer, as an engineering student I would say I exposed it to above average use/abuse during the semester. After almost 5 months, there are zero signs of wear anywhere on it. I use this as a mouse pad (as pictured), as well as to do assignments on, and neither seem to have caused any noticeable effect on it - there's no wear/friction/rubbing marks from the mouse, nor any impressions/traces of things I had written on it.And speaking of writing on it, I think that may be one of my favorite aspects of it. I for some reason dislike writing straight on to a hard surface, and usually just put a note pad or a few sheets of paper under what I'm writing on to allow the pen to "sink in" a bit. This, however, is JUST soft enough to give that effect of a writing pad, but by no means is there any concern of poking through the paper or anything, it is still a hard surface.I have absolutely no regrets purchasing this, would do so again if ever needed, and would recommend it to anyone.-James

Large, wide desk pad that looks and feels great.Pay attention to the 36" width of this though, because although I love the size on my desk, the width is quite a bit wider than standard desk pads and may come as a surprise if you overlook the measurements.I personally like the extra width of the pad because it allows me to use my mouse on the pad while not cutting into the usable desk space in front of me. Lots usable desk space for spreading out papers and files while not needing a separate mouse pad too.The material is some sort of vinyl/plastic - - - no odor at all, and packing in a large, flat box meant no creases or bends at all.The pad itself lends very well to being a comfortable surface for writing on. If you're like me, and prefer to slip a notepad or magazine under any sheet of paper before writing, you'll like this desk mat. It's just soft enough that it provides the same cushion-y feel to write on, yet is firm enough that your pen won't poke through.There is a matte finish on this, which does tend to show scuffs and dust, but it also wipes clean very easily using a microfiber rag or damp paper towel.The only downside to this pad that I found, is that it can shift/slide a bit on the desk. I remedied this by using some extra non-slip shelf liner (the thin spongy type) that I had on hand. The shelf liner is thin enough so it's not noticeable at all and it works perfectly and no movement/shifting at all.

Whenever one orders, the dice are thrown. I my case I had something in mind that was very specific. I needed a desktop writing pad. It had to be big enough to cover a good usable work space. It had to be thin so a not to form a table surface obstacle. It had to be hard enough to prevent pencil puncture and appropriate for a good protective backstop to intense pencil work. It had to be not disposed to slipping across the table during use. But it had to have some flex and give so as to be comfortable under ones arms and hands. So, what did I get. I got exactly what I wanted. I could not have designed or fabricated a more perfect solution to my purpose and specification list.Would I order it again? In fact I did and now have five. And yet for another office installation I would order another.Update 2020 December 18Just to follow up since I, as a reader of these reviews always wonder what happened months after the original purpose. Since my original order and review, these things have held up beautifully, and have successfully sustained considerable use. They lay flat, and have enough thickness and weight to be very durable. My desktops that they cover are laminates, and not natural wood. So I have not had the reaction to the wood desk surface as mentioned in other reviews. For me these are perfect. I am now ordering more.

** UPDATED AFTER 2 YRS OF USE **This pad has definitely lost it's luster after some use. It is warped and bubbling up and has become very annoying to work on. I really liked it when I first got it, but wish it had lasted a little longer. After a couple years of use I am looking for a replacement.** ORIGINAL REVIEW **I purchased this pad because of it's width. I have a long desk and I wanted to protect my general work area. This pad is flat and smooth and you will soon forget it is even there.I needed to modify this pad in order to fit my desk's depth and make room for a wire grommet. It is easy to cut using a xacto or utility knife with a sharp blade -Overall, I'm very pleased with this pad, but will need more time test it's durability.

I have the desk pad now for a few weeks and I'm very happy with the quality the way it looks and feels. Way better then a couple of others I bought a few years ago. The only thing I didn't like is when buying a kind of environmentally friendly product if is this then shipped in a total overdimensioned box. I understand that they don't want to fold or even roll it, but has the box really to be almost 2 feet high if the item is only a few millimeters. high?Other then thsi I would highly recommend it.

Nice writing surface and easy to wipe clean. Does not have a great gripping surface though, which means it may slide if you push it with a lot of pressure.

It lies perfectly flat, it never moves and it's exactly the right density for writing on. It looks really classy on my "espresso" colored desk, it was shipped in a big flat carton so there was no curl and it arrived before the expected delivery date. Perfect...
