USB Charging Smart Acoustic Electric Pocket Travel Chord Practice Portable Guitar Neck for Beginner AI LCD (BLACK)

This a excellent guitar for my 9 year old daughter. She use it to take her music lessons. I may be ordering another for myself.

I got this not knowing what to expect. I figured it would work as a MIDI input to all of my rigs and would probably have tracking problems or issues. It has fewer tracking problems than I expected but it totally doesn't work on OSX. It shows up as a midi device but does not pass any data. It works under Linux and Windows just fine. Also it has bluetooth but only seems to work with the mobile phone app. I can't get it to connect on mac. It's fun to play but like I mentioned it has tracking problems. It's particularly annoying because it's inconsistent across the different strings. The fretboard itself is pretty consistent but the pick sensitivity of the different strings varies a lot. The D string is super sensitive and double triggers all the time and the low E string is not sensitive at all and misses notes. Other strings are ok but it seems like the higher strings want to phantom trigger when I accidentally brush my hand on the string. It's also a little annoying that you can't mute the strings with your left hand. This is a total brain dump I know. I put another strap button on the back since having a strap button at the end of the neck is super uncomfortable for me. Having a button on the back in a normal position worked great. It hangs pretty well and is surprisingly comfortable. I think the thing that's annoying me the most is that it's not total junk, It has the potential to be great. If the firmware supported hammer-ons I'd be super happy. I understand that bends are a little much to ask but just hammer ons would be a huge win here. If the sensitivity was consistent it would be way better too. It doesn't have to be better, just consistent from string to string. I think this thing forces you to play real clean, which might actually improve your playing a little bit. At first I thought it was stupid that I had to adjust my technique to get it to trigger correctly but the more I think about it the more I think it's just forcing me to be cleaner which might actually translate to the real guitar. Not sure though. This is a clone of the Jamstik which I have never played. I kind of like the way this is built though it almost looks a little more streamlined and solid. The neck isn't actually bad. It's stiff and doesn't bow at all with the string tension. I have a feeling that this could have been a great product. As it is I think it's at least useful. The fact that it can be played standalone is pretty nice and something of a bonus for me. I didn't get it for that, I got it to enter notes into my DAW. I found that I have walked around my apartment with it strumming with the built-in sounds and it's not bad. It's short so I don't bang into doors all the time like I do with my acoustic guitar.

Absolute Junk. Do not buy this guitar.

I love this guitar because it's portable and it's great for beginners. I definitely recommend this to train your fingers and to get used to the rhythm it makes like a guitar.

It works for what it probably was intended for. The instrument has a hard time keeping up. Great to learn chords and finger movements.

It doesn't do everything I hoped, e.g. allow me to play all my repertoire, including baritone guitar. (I guess I never did think it would accommodate the songs done in special tunings e.g. Open D or DADGAD etc.) BUT 1. It really does sound VERY nice and plays standard tuning songs well. It is comfortable to play. AWESOME travel guitar! 2. My nine year old grandson, a very talented bass and organ player who I visited over Labor Day, pretty much didn't put it down the whole time I was there. I had given him a ukulele several years ago that he played before he got hooked on bass... and then gave him a half-size Washburn guitar but he pretty much never played that. (His dad loved it.) I was so tickled with my grandson playing this thing so much, I left it there. Would I buy another? MAYBE. But if they stretched the "electronic capo" range to 5 steps lower (for my baritone repertoire) AND gave me the ability to set the tonic pitch for each string (allowing open tunings and the like) I would buy another. If they also figured out a way to make hammer-ons work, I would buy another in a HEARTBEAT! Even for (some) more money. (By the way, this was the 7 fret instrument. I could never play the 12 fret with my sausage fingers.)

This is perfect for practice and travel. Built in speaker is clear and loud. Sound is really great. Price is excellent for me to learn guitar with either acoustic or electric settings. Had to return first one because the A string had a “flat” tone. There is no tuning needed except for how tight you like your strings. Happy with the purchase!

I started learning with this, the nylon strings allowed me to practice for an extended period of time vs a steel string acoustic that I also own. I've since moved to a steel string travel guitar but recommend this one for getting started.
