The Amazon download link directed me straight to Intuit’s site, where installation took less than five minutes on both Mac and PC. It automatically imported last year’s data, saving hours of manual entry. Within minutes, it had pulled my 1099s, bank interest, and W-2 info from linked institutions. The program’s interface hasn’t changed much—and that’s a good thing. It’s intuitive, question-driven, and still walks you through every deduction, from home office expenses to mileage and depreciation. The value comes from its built-in business logic. For instance, it identifies industry-specific deductions and asset write-offs, and its “Audit Risk Meter” offers useful feedback for borderline deductions. The Quick Employer Forms feature is convenient for generating 1099s and W-2s without separate payroll software. There are still a few caveats: state e-file fees feel unnecessary given the premium price, and the download version means keeping your own backups. Occasionally, large QuickBooks imports can misalign a few line items (common across tax software). But overall, it’s smooth, stable, and very accurate. I've been using Turbo Tax for at least 10 years and find it meets my needs for filing personal taxes (and my unmarried partner for her taxes) and a small consulting business I have. My taxes aren't too complicated, but I do want to get them right, especially in figuring deductions, both personal and business. I've always found Turbo Tax easy to use in terms of being menu-driven, with the convenience that I can import information from the previous tax year, and also (great thing!) import data from various institutions such as banks that I would otherwise have to enter manually. In terms of this year (covering 2024), I just bought the package and downloaded it for both Federal and state taxes. I then imported the previous year's taxes and did a quick look at the sections I'll be filling out. I may change this later, but my quick inspection says it looks just like previous years. In terms of downloading and installing the software, it was very, very easy to get the software loaded on my MacBook. Basically, you get an email from Amazon right after you order this that has 4-5 steps, beginning with going off to the Intuit/Turbo Tax website, identifying your product and operating system, and then downloading a file that you (on an Apple) move to your applications folder and then open. The email you get includes a license number, which you enter as part of registration, and once you do this, you are ready to go. The whole process took about 2 minutes (I'm a slow typist), including the time needed to choose state software. So bottom line, it looks like good software that is easy to install following instructions Amazon sends in an email. HAPPY FILING!! Recommended.

Use TurboTax every year to do my taxes. Never have a problem with the software.

I have been using TurboTax for many years and I have been happy with it. This year, something changed. This year was the first year, I had to Mail my return in. TurboTax did not finish the return, something to do with last year's return, numbers on a certain line, was not entered. Every time I tried to fix the problem, TurboTax would delete the fix. I'm thinking bad programing. I mailed my return in and IRS accepted it.
