My girlfriend is German and when I went over there I was surprised that one of their favorite appreciative terms is "super". We don't use that back here in the United States very often but over in Germany it's a very common expression. Anyway, that's my opinion of this bread, It's super. I heed it in the microwave and put a little salt and olive oil on it and I love it just like that though I also warm it and have peanut butter and jam on it and use it for bread in general. It's whole grain and the nice thing about it is that when you run out of a regular bread it lasts forever especially in the refrigerator where I keep it and it's just a great backup I thought, but now, truly, I prefer it to almost any other bread it's just so scrumptious anyway yeah I'll stop raving about it but it's good stuff and very nutritious.

German health bread at its best. I love it and have reordered it several times. I eat it with a little butter and Swiss cheese for breakfast or lunch.

Flavor: I happen to like the savory, faintly vinegary sourdough rye flavor, tho it may not be to everyone's taste. Texture: Dense, coarse, somewhat crumbly, especially round the edges, because of the whole rye grains included. Size: A slice is approximately 6 5/8 x 3 3/4 x 3/8. inches. Each packet contains 7 slices. This is the third time I've ordered 6 packets at once. They arrived near the end of July 2018 with expiration dates of June 6, 2019. I've easily made 6 packets last 6 months or more because I'm restricting carbs in my diet, but want to have some bread on hand when I get a craving for some. This is more nutritious than bread made with white flour, has more fiber and doesn't go moldy, which makes it suitable for having only the occasional slice. I like it spread with hummus or guacamole or as an open-faced sandwich with something like egg salad or tuna-mayo-capers or mayo-cucumber slices, or Dusseldorf mustard and sharp cheddar cheese melted in the microwave. I generally slice the bread crosswise into 4 fingers after topping it with something, to minimize the likelihood that it might break while I'm eating it -- it's just easier to eat that way because the slices are so large. As recommended, I put the remaining slices into (zip lock type quart size) plastic bags (3 per bag) and keep them in the refrigerator until I want another one. It helps to separate them gently with a table knife first. I haven't tried toasting this bread because the slices are too long to fit into my toaster and even if I halved them, I think they'd leave too many crumbs at the bottom. That's probably its only downside for me. I daresay one could make a good Reuben sandwich with it, although it would be a rather heavy sandwich. Its flavor wouldn't be suitable for PB&J or other sweet fillings.I think it would be too likely to break apart on irregular fillings like a BLT. For a two slice sandwich I think it would really need something that would hold the bread together, like cheese or liverwurst that's spread, not sliced, and the filling would need to be relatively thin -- not thick in the middle like a deli sandwich. It's a good, honest, respectable bread whose flavor hasn't been tweaked to make a person's taste buds want to eat the entire packet at one go, the way snack foods are, which is something I'm grateful for! One does need to handle a single slice somewhat carefully to avoid breaking it -- don't bend it.
