Sperlari Anise Hard Boiled Candy (2.2 Lb | 1000g)

I bought these for my son-in-law, because he loves anaseed and had read about these sweets from Italy. and I am very impressed that they arrived a week early, I hope he loves them.

I have tried different anise candies and these are wonderful. They have no artificial coloring, and the anise flavor, it’s not overpowering, soothing anise flavor, I love them.

Best licorice flavor ever! The clear candy means there is no black residue on teeth. We love it!

I found these anise candies when I went looking for the square red anise candies in the red cellophane wrapping I remembered from when I was a little kid, many years ago. While looking I realized that even if I found ones that looked like those red ones they most likely wouldn't live up to the expectation created by nostalgia. I believe these colorless and transparent hard anise candies are less sweet than the ones I'm remembering, more like chewing a fresh picked anise leaf or crunching some dry anise seeds, and that's all to the good. I ordered a 7 ounce bag first and needn't have bothered. I knew from the first delicious candy that I'd be ordering the big bag. Not only do these taste like a sip of anisette, their elongated oval shape has a really nice "mouth feel". Very good quality candies and a good value when purchased in the 1 kg/2.2 lb bag.
