This wooden paddle is very good, When receiving it, there is a plastic bag to protect it. It won't be scratched or damaged during transportation. Also, it has good texture, the surface is smooth and neat.

These are OK... It's (usually) a college thing I think, so I'm sure for most people it doesn't matter THAT much, but the wood wasn't "paint ready"... It actually took rather a lot of sanding and prep work for me to get this ready to paint for my daughter's sorority sister gift... It was actually a bear of a project. The wood wasn't "clear" quality, so there were rough spots (although not true knots) in it, and it did need to be filled in a couple of places before I primed it. Again, I'm sure for most college people, this wouldn't be a huge deal, BUT, if you are waiting until the last minute AND you want to have a really nice quality finished product, or you're a parent who got sucked into "helping" your college kid and you know a thing or two about woodwork projects, you're going to have to put in a lot of work to get a nice smooth surface to work with if you choose this piece. It is a good size by comparison to other paddles I saw and the shape is great for champagne or other "adult beverage" themed paddles... With electric tools, time, and a workshop, this could turn out a really cool Greek "keepsake"... Some of the members keep them for a lifetime, so it's worth the work, regardless of what paddle you select.
