Jurassic World Hammond Collection Dinosaur Action Figure Scutosaurus, Premium Design with Glass Eyes & 14 Points Articulation, JDJ08

The Hammond Collection is Mattel's effort to make super-detailed, highly articulated, 1:18-scale prehistoric reptiles for their Jurassic Park / Jurassic World lines. And this unassuming little Permian pareiasaur, Scutosaurus, is one of the surprise stars of the line. Without having to adhere to a movie art department's "vision" of what they think an extinct reptile should look like for maximum silver-screen impact, Mattel's team have made a nice, believable, pretty darned accurate Scutosaurus toy. Really, the ONLY complaint I have of this toy is that I wish it had articulated ankles for even better posing. It's so good, it has become very popular among YouTube palaeontology and dinosaur-toy enthusiasts. I don't say this lightly, but I would love to see Mattel release this mould in different colour schemes, reflecting the animal's previous rare and cancelled releases. This one is already in the somewhat rare 1997 Wal-Mart "Dino-Tracker Adventure Set" colour scheme, and some paint-jobs reflecting the even rarer 2020 "Jurassic World" Savage Strike version and the unreleased 1994 Kenner Series II "Plateface" version would be most welcome. And then, if they'd like to do Hammond Collection versions of Ornithosuchus and Estemmenosuchus, as well . . . . [HEAVY HINT, MATTEL!] On the whole, an excellent and rather cute little prehistoric reptile toy.

Review: Hammond Collection Scutosaurus – The OG Tank from the Permian! Long before raptors were clever girls, Scutosaurus was stomping through the Permian era—back when Earth was basically one giant desert and dinosaurs weren’t even a thing yet. This figure does the legend justice: thick armor plating, detailed texture, and articulation that brings this prehistoric powerhouse to life. It’s like a walking tank with the chill attitude of a giant desert tortoise. A bold pick for the Hammond Collection, and a win for paleo fans who love the deep cuts. Finally, some love for the pre-dino herbivores. Verdict:Tough, unique, and Permian-perfect. Lovely packaging, and well presented. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Perfect, exactly as advertised

I bought the used option and while the package was pretty torn apart the figure is perfect condition. It's really a great figure, so cute looking and a pretty unique choice. There are very few Scutosaurus toys out there and they are hard to get your hands on.
