4040 PRO CNC Router – solid build and easy setup
Packed really well and arrived without any issues. The machine feels solid and well made, and the finish looks great. I put it together as soon as I got it and ran a quick test — everything worked smoothly. So far, I’m very happy with it.

"Wolfpawn" the elusive CNC Machine
Easy assembly. That's where the two stars come in. Wolfpawn is NOT listed on any software as a choice for a machine. I'm new to CNC. Using Candle... I was able to carve out the words "WOLFPAWN" on the little piece of wood sent with the machine. I found that VCarve is a user friendly design program, Candle not so much. Yet Wolfpawn is not listed in their many machines list. SO I can't use it. Youtube videos are no help, Wolfpawn 4040 can't be found. Is there another name this router uses? If your a newbie, keep looking.

excellent entry level unit
I am finally getting around to writing a review for this CNC machine that I have had since February. I wanted to use it a bunch of times before writing a review because it is such a complex tool and I wanted to use as many of the features as I could to give an accurate opinion. This was my first CNC machine and I really enjoyed putting it together. The included instructions were sufficient, not perfect, but enough to get it put together and working on the first try. I installed the included software and spent a few hours testing the software out and trying to figure out exactly how it worked. This machine is made out of high-grade aluminum with a particle board platform. Once I had it assembled and had spent some time learning how it worked, I did a test run on a thin piece of poplar that I had laying around. I found the machine to be very accurate once I had the software and positioning set up and dialed in. You can do a lot with this machine as long as you have the patience to spend time with the software and learn how to use it. The machine must be used in an open air environment because as you may expect, it throws dust everywhere. I had it set up in the garage and used it with the door open and the air cleaning system running. Additionally, it is quite loud but that is not unique to this unit as every CNC I have ever been around have been equally as loud. This is a great entry-level machine for those of use who are new to CNC. I do recommend it because the price is excellent for what you get, the fact that it comes with all necessary accessories, and the fact that it worked quite well.

Decent entry level CNC router.
This would be more 4.5 stars, just mostly because of the price vs the quality. This is an entry level CNC. With a little room for upgrades (to upgrade it yourself to get better results). comes in parts, like the first 3d printers. Is not too complicated, specially if you first find the USB drive that comes with it, since that drive includes a video (didnt find it until I finished putting it together using the small pictures of the manual) Something important to take into consideration is that this CNC, like most of them (and entry levels specially) depends entirely of a computer (could be a raspi if you are good in tech). This is a RS232 serial to USB device that will not require any drivers in any modern windows. It has the standard software included in the USB drive (A very old version of it) that does not requires install. Motor is decent power too. to cut soft wood. It comes with a laser port. which is nice. but there is NO information about this brand anywhere outside A listings. So, if you want to go sure to get a laser that will properly work with this CNC, there is no information out there. Again, its a pretty decent CNC to start into the subject. It has a HARD learning curve, but after that results are nice. Another key information to take into consideration is that this will make TONS of dust. This is NOT intended to have running inside your house or any living space. Is good idea to have a filtration system (there are some YT videos on how to make a cheap one with 4 a/c filters and a cheap fan).

Substantial build quality
My husband and I have been looking at CNC routers for a while now and in researching them, I was really pleased to see this Wolfpawn CNC is made with steel wheels and an aluminum frame construction. So many we’ve read about are made with plastic and just don’t hold up over time. It arrives mostly preassembled and the rest was easy enough. My husband loves gadgets and tech so he’s been pouring over the included drive to start to learn the software. We have no experience with CNC machines yet but are incredibly excited to learn. I’m a leatherworker and hope to be able to carve designs and maybe even cut pieces on the machine. From the information, it seems to be a higher quality beginner machine while sounds perfect. We have also been collecting sound dampening materials and are going to build an enclosure to help lower the volume and contain any fumes and debris. The machine is loud once you start cutting, and since ours will be used in our house, we want to have a pretty buttoned up environment before we start using it a lot. It’s a totally open machine, with no lid or enclosure like some laser cutters or other carving or CNC machines so unless you are using this in an outdoor shed or garage, you really want to create an environment for it. Hopefully once we get more of a handle on the finer points of using it, I can share some pieces we’ve carved with it, none the less, it’s a really fun piece of equipment with a lot of potential uses for a wide array of materials .
