Easy.
You plug this thing into a standard electric outlet, and hook the cables to the car battery. In our case, the battery is for a 1998 Tacoma that we don't drive very often. It gets depleted periodically and then the truck won't start. We have used this charger on it twice and it has done the job. It's not a quick charger. It's has been an overnight process for us. But at the end of it, we have a functioning battery again. No, jumping, no AAA, and no charging while driving after a jump, which I've been told is bad for the alternator or the generator or something. The power cord on this charger is fairly short. Unless you are parked really close to an electrical outlet, you'll need to remove the battery and carry it closer to power. I'd rate this a good purchase. Cheap, simple, and it works. If any weirdness develops, I'll revise the rating, but for now, it's a 5.

Worked great on my motorcycle
Great, inexpensive charger/maintainer. My 2016 Triumph Street Twin was dead from not being driven. Connected this charger up and two hours later, the bike fired right up. So happy. Gonna keep it nearby for the winter, to keep my beloved Triumph ready to hit the streets of Dallas.

PREVENTING WIRE BREAKAGE
The charger does a good job, but many have complained about the wires breaking off the clamps. So, the first thing I did when it arrived was to do a fix to prevent the breakage before I used the charger. As you can see from photo “A” when you pull the insulators off the wire side of the clamp the manufacturer didn’t use the four strain relief tabs that are meant to support the wires. So, I gently made a loop in the wire while supporting the solder joint, then bent two of the tabs over the loop. Leave the other two tabs straight up to hold the insulator in place once you push it back on to the clamp. Picture “A” shows the black clamp done and the red clamp the way it comes from the supplier. Picture “B” shows both clamps finished. Just remember to only bend two tabs per clamp or else there won’t be anything to hold the insulator in place. I hope this fix helps everyone who buys this charger.

Good
Good quality. Nice and small. Doesn’t take up space like the old chargers back in the90s lol. Charges battery within 24 hours. Would recommend this if you need a trickle charger.

First One Failed - 2nd One is Gold!
It looked like a nice, simple battery maintainer, and the lights came on when I first hooked it up to my car's battery. But when I checked it a few hours later, it was dark. I followed the directions, disconnected it from the battery and plugged it in again (to two different outlets). The instructions say if the lights come on, it's good. If they don't, it's bad. It was bad. Amazon made it super easy to return and I simply asked for an identical replacement. Maybe this was an anomaly. I'll update this review when I get and test the replacement. Got the replacement yesterday and plugged it in to maintain my car battery. As of today it's working fine. I don't have my gear with me to test output voltage, but the lights come on as they are supposed to, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. Given the price and what it's intended to do, I'd give it 5 stars if the first one hadn't failed. [Update] A little over a week later, after 24/7 continuous use in weather over 100 degrees, it's still working fine. Given this, I've upgraded the rating to 5 stars. Tough to beat for the price.

Trickle Chargers
I purchased three of the chargers to maintain lawn tractor batteries of the winter season. I liked the small charger capable maintaining lead acid or lithium ion batteries. Well worth the price at a very reasonable cost.

Great Little Charger
I have bought many of these. They have saved alot of my batteries. They keep my batteries charged while in storage over the winter. They are good for cars, trucks, and mowers.
