This shoe is a total game-changer. After more than 30 years lifting free weights, and practicing pilates and yoga, I finally decided that aging well required strength training. That means mostly limiting my weight lifting to a few exercises with heavy (for me) weights, mostly a barbell. When I first got under the squat rack last week, I knew I needed support under my heels in order to get below parallel. I used 5lb plates the first time, then brought a couple wedges I already had at home. Both helped, but the stability I needed in order to squat securely wasn't there. Backing up onto a plate or wedge didn't feel great, and my squats (according to the husband) didn't look at that great either. I started shopping for specific shoes for weight lifting, and decided to order the Reebok Women's Legacy based on good reviews and the height of the heel--22cm. Nothing else was this high. I have very inflexible ankles. There are some exercises to improve ankle flexibility, but this is mostly a mechanical limitation. Well, I tested out my new shoes yesterday, and they're a total game-changer in my lifting routine. Able to get low enough in the squat. Also helpful for deadlifts. Very secure shoe. And since you'll only wear these for a few exercises, they should last a long time. Order one size or 1/2 size up. I'm normally a 7 in a closed shoe or boot, 6 in an open shoe (Fit Flops, Uggs), an 8 in Ons, and I purchased an 8 in these shoes. They are supposed to have a close fit. Do not hesitate to invest in the best weight lifting shoe you can afford. Your body will thank you. Plus these shoes are beautiful! At 65, I can use all the help I can get!
