Q: Can you use metal utensils?

I’m sure you “can”, but why would you if you can use a wood or plastic stirrer that won’t scratch the stainless steel?

Q: Is the D5 discontinued ?

All Clad has not discontinued the D5 line. The line is still listed on the All-Clad website. I believe the person above mistankingly thought D5 is discontinued when it's actually the G5 Graphite Core that's discontinued.

Q: Thinking of getting this especially for candy making. Has anyone used this pan for peanut brittle and caramel making?

Yes use it for everything it’s a very good pan

Q: Does the lid that comes with the 3qt pan also fit on the 10" skillet?

It will not fit, at least based on the utensils I have.
