iFi iPurifier3 USB Audio Purifier and Data Signal Filter (USB Male Type B, White)

iFi Purifier 3 USB Type B purchased for use between my HP590 desktop computer and my Musical Fidelity MX-DAC digital to analogue converter with in a second system in my home. All my CD's have been copied onto my Seagate Expansion 4TB hard drive, they been copied 'In real time' using a Denon DN-500R SD Recorder using the 24bit-44.1kHz direct digital connection used between three different CD playback sources, a Marantz SA11s3, a Marantz UD7007 [also used for SACD Copies using the Javascript copy method] and a Marantz CD6007 [CD player source used dependant on the type of music to be copied] then loaded onto my Seagate Expansion HDD. [i'm retired with a lot of time on my hands] I am using a Audiolab DC Blocker/Mains filter that feeds mains 230v into a Airlink BPS500 Balanced Mains Power Supply that in turn feeds my HP590 Desktop computer using JRiver Music Centre 30 playback software that is configured for 'Audio Only Playback' playing 'Hi-Res audio' via PCM and DSD. I am also using another Audiolab DC Blocker/Mains filter on my Musical Fidelity MX-DAC I do not use any other form of playback ether from any Streaming sites or MP3 files or flac or MQA or any other form of compressed audio. Ask your self what you are trying to achieve and what your expectations are from this item. I firmly believe that the only way to listen to very good music reproduction is ether a with a very good vinyl replay system or digital audio via a CD/SACD Player, a very good one, along with a very good amplifier and a very good pair of loudspeakers, CD replay from a very good CD player out performs any Hi-Resolution download played back from a computer no matter how much you spend on a very good USB DAC so i would think twice about getting rid of your CD collections. If, like myself, you are fortunate enough to own and use said equipment then no matter what item you use between your computer and digital to analogue converter to improve the sound quality of a CD/SACD or Hi-Resolution downloaded file loaded onto a computer hard drive is going to make your music on your computer sound anywhere near as good as listening to your High End Hi-Fi system. I removed my Audiolab DC Blocker/Mains filter and my Airlink BPS500 from the HP590 desktop computer for the first initial tests. I started using the iFi Purifier 3 and gave it 24 hours of constant use playing a file on repeat before i came to the conclusion after a day of constant use that while it improved definition and clarity the sound quality still lacked warmth and atmosphere on the files i played back. Then i reintroduced my ''Audiolab DC Blocker/Mains filter and ''Airlink Balanced Power Supply'' to the computer a WOW, superb. Definition, Superb, Clarity again superb, warmth and atmosphere in the recording, yet again superb. The iFi Purifier 3 worked for me, i hope everyone gets the same improvement i got, it's the nearest i have come to quality CD/SACD playback using a computer file, still no where near as good as a CD or Vinyl LP but it is getting better with further new technical advances. Well done iFi and their parent company AMR and thanks goes out to JRiver Media Centre 30, superb software.

I bought this, attached it to my USB cable and plugged it in to my Chord DAC. It is amazing. There is no longer any bloat to the sound from the speakers. Before using this I had to be careful turning the volume up as I knew which notes and sounds would bloat and stand out badly. The sound is now ultra clear and "stays back" at the speakers". No forced sound at all. I never noticed any background noise before but I now know what silence means; I can hear way more going on in the music, details coming through from CD's I have listened to for 30 years. When I listen to music now, it really does sound like I am in the studio with the artists. I can hear the reverb tails on vocals that were hidden before. Singers like Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion no longer have that screechy edge. The sound is smooth and velvety and finding the sweet spot is so easy. The depth of the soundstage is brilliant, I can hear horns and drums that are way behind the violins. The whole sound is lighter and "free". I can hear longer fade-outs on songs that I didn't know existed before. The bass is deeper and thicker in a beautiful way and I find myself tapping my foot all the time where I never used to. I have to check that I am listening in stereo as the soundstage almost envelops me on some songs. Fantastic. I cannot recommend this enough, even on expensive systems.

Honestly, just like a few others have written about their own personal experience, I simply purchased 2 units out of curiosity, not expecting much but the usual "Oh it works magic" responses. I was wrong. Very wrong. I still don't quite get the actual technology, and I'm not shy of deep tech, but it works as described. I asked my daughter to assist me with a literal blind test, 6 times at random - and all were correct. The sound, no matter how improbable it may seem, DID improve and sound... I don't know how else to put it, cleaner. I tested the unit between a T+A DAC 200 and a Hifi Rose RS150B, both of which I am quite pleased with. So how can it actually sound better? Perhaps the de-jitter, perhaps the noise filtration at inaudible levels, I can't say. I played "A Deeper Blue" by Darshan Ambient 6 times. Each time I would ask my daughter to randomly decide to plug the unit in between the 2 devices, and each time, I guessed right. Full disclosure: I have purchased a few ifi products in the past and trust their quality and realism : iFi xDSD, xDSD Gryphon, Can Signature, to name a few. Well done iFi. Still don't believe the reviews? Then don't buy it. Simple. But if you trust that some of us will give brutally honest review, for or against, please go for it.

IFi products that improve digital DAC USB front end resolution and reduce noise artefacts have been in steady supply for some years. The Purifier 3 is no exception. Except that it now appears through better and higher tolerance components it does delivers a sound that is significantly better, with more low frequency depth, higher resolution clarity enabling congested parts to be heard. IFi are proving there is still a low cost leverage to be had where digital sound improvement is concerned. Highly recommended System components: Benchmark, DAC3L, HPA4 and AHB2 amplifier Digital feeds: Auralic, Roon, Linn, and Melco.

I’m always looking for a gadget to improve my hifi sound. So the gadget advertised here I gave it ago. I tried it for a while getting used to the sound. I convinced myself there was a improvement in sound until I removed it. It change the sound not a improvement, It sounded more musical and cleaner not using it. Give it ago it might improve your sound. It really depends on your system.

La première constatation après connexion du iFi iPurifier 3 USB (Type 'B') sur mon dac Pioneer U-05, c'est des basses un peu plus percutante et ensuite un aperçu des aigus très légèrement plus distinctif et détaillé dans la stéréo. Après quelques minutes d'écoute, je m'aperçois que pour un milieu de journée en semaine la musique est moins dur, une image sonore moins agressive et moins fatiguante à l'écoute. Un moment que j'appréciais avant particulièrement après 19h00 +/- quand le secteur était moins perturbé, ainsi que les bruit numérique qui provenait de mes ports usb du pc et qui incommodaient la qualité d'écoute ! Maintenant peu importe, que ce soit la semaine ou le week-end la qualité du son est bien moins fatiguant et plus calme ! C'est exactement ce dont j'avais besoin. Je conseille vivement un très bon câble USB qui fera ainsi toute la différence.

update 4/5/2020 I just wanted to give a update since i am so pleased with this product and company. (Yes my initial unit went bad, but those issue were quickly resolved by iFi, any product no matter how great can have an occasional reject) Anyways for those who have a gaming laptop know thier usb audio can be a little noisy. For myself it's a Omen by HP. And for those who have or had a Parasound P5 preamp know the DAC can eem a little basic as far as audio quality. However when the ipurifier3 is in the loop it's like having a completely different high end dac. And running horn speakers with 99db efficiency, it's pue joy having absolutely zero hiss or background noise. I can't speak for all iFi products, however the ipurifier3 is a winner. Update 10/15/19 It is extreamely rare for me to give a product update after a year, but this product absolutely deserves it. I can say this product is the best upgrade i have ever had for my system. What this has done for my audio coming from my computer is just remarkable. I know listen to almost exclusively audio from my computer (mainly spotify). What this does to make sure your audio is clean, reclocked and balanced is nothing short of amazing. Nothing is taken from the audio signal, it just keeps it well sort of perfect. Without this, i found the audio through usb was not so enjoyable. And i run a Parasound P5 pre and Anthem audio amp, with custom two ways and a 18'' sub. I can only say that almost everyone who has heard my system, has now bought the ipurifier 3. This company deserves 10 stars, not only for their product, but also their customer support. 9/21/18- I am updating my review because the company (Tiffany) contacted me and is sending out a replacement. As long as the product sounds like the first unit and holds up, this is an awesome product and company. 9/16/18 Took the chance of buying another one because I really liked the first one while it worked. I'm starting to wonder if there is a quality control issue or just a bad batch. This one has the occasion cracking or popping noise when switch the music or shut down a app. The old one never did that, and my DAC does not do it without this hooked up. This new one doesn't seem to have the solid tight punchy bass and doesn't tame those annoying sharp shrieking type highs that can get over exaggerated. Cant really tell a difference with this in use. My first one worked as advertised and did and sounded just I expected and liked very much, until that 3rd or 4th day when it went out. Just sucked because these really do improve the audio quality when working right. I may contact Tiffany from iFi and let her send me a replacement straight from the company instead of amazon. Hopefully theres wont have any issues. If I get a good working unit my review will go back up to 5 stars Update-9/13/18 after writing a good review the device quit working today. Not sure if I will try a replacement or not. Update- No need to actually wait two weeks for this update. AS LONG AS THIS HOLDS UP, IM KEEPING IT! Well I must admit I am shocked how much I like this device, I honestly thought my first impressions may have been a placebo effect, but happy to report it was not. With my equipment I just didn't think I would get any advantage from this. So I had my son come over to help me blind test this and try to fool me. But it was easy to pick a winner, the ipurifier3 has to stay in my system. By the way, my son was shocked to. He didn't think my system could get much better, anyhow here we go. With this device, not only did the sound stage become bigger, wider, and even taller. Bass is precise and now I don't have those occasional unnatural highs I used to get on some music. Best part is I am not using any bass or treble enhancements, just a straight clean pure input to output. My son and I were both shocked, we had to look several times just to make sure there was nothing else bass or treble added. I cant believe. I finally have the sound back that I used to have with a prior system years and years ago. And this is probably better. The music is clean and precise, no clutter, no tangled business. Every instrument is completely identified and proper placement. I just cant stop listening, im not getting anything else done or accomplished. LOL My 27yr old son even sat for a few hours listening to classical, percussion, and acoustic music. He said he never thought he could appreciate that kind of music. But who knows I may have opened his mind up to some real music. Maybe he will start to see that rap isn't really music. But we did test some rock, rap and country to see how it faired. He liked it, I liked it all except for the rap, it just aint my cup of tea. I must tell you I really hate giving out this kind of free advertisement, but this product (as long as it doesn't break down) actually deserves the endorsement. Don't listen to the one review telling you it's for lower end systems, that's utter nonsense. Maybe he doesn't understand the technology behind this device. I didn't think my decent 15k system would benefit from this and I can say with no qualms about it, I was wrong. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I have had this now running about 6 hrs, so i'm still going through the initial test phases. I was reluctant to initialy try this as I had heard it is basically only beneficial to lower end systems. To be honest my system sounded great already, but if there is a way to get even a small improvement I will usually give it a try. My sound system may not be the most expensive system out there, but for a 2.1 stereo system I have about 15k in it. And I like it better than a few of my buddies who have double that in theirs. It is so hard, time consuming and important to pick the right components. Lots of research and even more listening and auditioning equipment. Anyways onto initial observations. I am still up in the air as far as rock or country music goes. However before when listening to Jazz, classical or any piano bar type music. To get the right sound I had to add or adjust a little bass and treble etc. Now when I listen to aforementioned music. I can have it as direct untouched no bass or treble adjustments or enhancements. And I must say, this seems to be doing a good job of accurately reproducing the music as intended. Horns, trumpets, piano, snare etc, all sound more natural. And I know this could be a placebo effect, wanting or hoping it sounds better. So this is why I will wait a week or two before making my final decision as to keep or return the product. I anticipate at least a hundred or so hours of comparing and listen test's to give an honest and accurate review. So check back in a couple of weeks for the update.

I don’t know what but I absolutely love this thing it’s weight it’s build… it brought the noise floor of 14 bit sdr equipment below what it can measure. NOTE: ifi site says 120mw it’s 142mw with no data moving through it and I’ve seen up to 160mw under load.

DDコンバーターのSinGxerのSU-２のＵＳＢ（２．０）Ｂ端子にIFI Audioの音源・電源分離型の（型番は忘れた）ノイズリダクション（最近なぜか売っていないタイプ）を経て、USB A（2.0）×２からUSB B(2.0)で利用しているが、ケーブルもIFI Audio旧型の黒いコード（今はだいぶ安くなって、３万円ちょっとで買えるようだが、私の記憶では、私が買った当時は、４万５千円前後したように思う）でGUSTARDのA22 ＤＡコンバーターにI2S接続で音出し。見違えるように鮮やかでニュアンス豊かな音質の変化が聴き取れた。もし、ケーブルを異常に高価（0.７ｍで６万円以上もする）だが、IFI AUDIO の新型（オレンジ色の平型）のUSB Aタイプ（3.0×２）からUSB Bタイプ（３．０）に変えれば、もっと素晴らしい音になるかも？
