Intriguing design but that's about it
After reading a few reviews on this knife last year, I finally bought one to see what it is like; a ratcheting utility knife with tanto blade with camo design on it. As a utility knife, it may not be a bad knife although I doubt the usefulness of the ratchet mechanism. To me, the ratchet is nothing but the cause of headache when open and close the blade. However, it does its job for cutting fabrics and some thick carpet. Obviously, the knife was designed (or made it look like) to be 'tactical' as well. The blade sitting in the handle seems to be quite off-centered and that's normally 'the knife guys' determine the manufacturing precision and design. Therefore, this knife fails in that category. The blade edge itself had some uneven grind (although it was sharp right out of the package) and I had to do serious 're-profiling' with a fixed angle sharpener. The handle is very heavy and solid. It's definitely a plus as a utility knife yet because of that, the weight distribution of the knife is very unbalanced. I tried the seat belt cutter to cut an old tie-down strap but it fails to cut it. Using the serrated part of the blade was much more effective to cut the tie-down strap. In conclusion, regardless of all the negative findings, I will keep the knife in the garage for future use.
