I don't know why. You would have to ask the manufacturer. You have asked Amazon, and I, a purchaser of said hot chocolate mix, have answered. Lake Champlain brand has at least one variety without maltodextrin.

Q: Where is this processed?

The label says it is made in Canada.

Q: States its non gmo, but you use gmo products such as alki to process the chocolate?...going to asume its also noy vegan?

Still vegan. The way of processing chocolate with alkali (probably 95% of all chocolate) doesn't use animal products.
