Wow - this supplement was recommended to me by a friend who works in life sciences / biotech to help with insomnia. Since 2018, I’ve found several times a week (and every night in the week before my period) I wake up around 1am sweating and wide awake. I can’t cool down until 5.30/6am by which point it’s nearly time to get up for work. I’ve seen doctors, tried other supplements and nothing has worked and even air conditioning can’t cool me down when it happens. Glycine apparently not only increases production of melatonin but also lowers your body temperature. I’ve been taking 5g a night (for insomnia studies have shown 3-5g a night to be effective) the last 11 nights (since it arrived) and I have slept through 7 to 8 hours straight. This also covered my monthly terrible sleep week. The last few nights I tried without air conditioning as an experiment - and still I slept through. I have never had a stretch like this. I will update in a few weeks time but I’m hopeful I’ve at last got to the bottom of my insomnia! ***Update - 15 June 2022 - I am still amazed by this and my partner is now taking it too who is also a bad sleeper (we have separate rooms as a result!). I’ve upped my intake to 6-8mg before bed. It helps me get back to sleep more quickly if I do wake up (it used to be hours, now a few mins or so), generally increases the length of my total sleep and I have more dreams, which I assume means I’m sleeping more deeply. I slept 8.5 hours last night 😃
