Good specs, inexpensive, very good flow
I am using this on an under-sink filter. I wanted filtration for my drinking and cooking water. I choose 0.5 micron filtration for the capability because, well, it's as good as you can get and because I occasionally use a a nasal irrigation kit without boiling the water and recently learned about the Cryptosporidium and Giardia risks from doing so. (This filters them out.). I was using a 3M Filtrate filter, which, when I could find them, cost 3x the cost of this one. This provides even better flow. The water comes out odorless and, providing iFilters is truthful, properly filtered.

drinking water faucet in RV
I have a drinking water faucet installed on my RV kitchen sink, with a 2.5x10 carbon block filter. I usually replace my filter every year. I've tried high-end filters from Pentek and GE. They can be up to $45 for one filter. I decided to try this less expensive option. A filter could last 3 months or 3 years, depending on how much you use it, and the actual water quality. Through 6 months of summer camping season, my filter does not clog up, and works well. I have a separate whole-house 1-micron sediment filter, so this 0.5 micron filter doesn't have to work very hard. It seems like a waste to replace it with a fancy filter every year. So a less-expensive filter makes sense. I only require 0.5 micron, ANSI certification, and cyst removal. This filter fits the bill at only $19.

Buy This, Don't Buy The Foreign Filter Replacements
I've been using countertop water filters for over 25 years. This is a good replacement filter. It filters to .5 microns but still allows a good flow compared to others I've used. I bought the countertop enclosure and filter from this company and have been very satisfied. The components are top notch, no shortcuts. I neglected to change the filter for about two years. Why? It worked really well for a long time and I didn't think about it. I think it works a year, not just six months, but after that, yeah, you should change it. The inside of the enclosure did need a disinfecting and cleaning, but other than that it's good as new. I then popped in the new cartridge. Ah...wonderful tasting water again. I use a countertop water filter because I'm persnickety about the taste of tap water. We actually have good "city" water where I live, but it's not good enough. This get's rid of any remaining negative taste. This filter does a bang up job of it. My water tastes perfect and I'm happy. Made in the U.S.A., how often do you see that? I will keep buying this filter as long as this company keeps making them. By the way, I encourage you to go to their website. I could have saved a few dollars, but oh well, I'll go back to it in six months. I'm not waiting so long this time.

Great water at an unbeatable price.
Great tasting water all the way up till it's time to replace the filter. I've used this for 2 years and replace it every 6-8 months. The cost savings cant be emphasized enough.

good. works
cartridge lasts about 1 year and 4 months before water starts tasting bad, so now I know to change cartridges at about the 1 year 2 month mark. no problem changing filters or anything. cartridge fits the ifilter that it was meant to fit. use the wrench thing to open case. remove old cartridge. clean out the case and base with warm dishsoap and water. rinse the F out of everything. put the case back on without the filter and let it run a couple minutes to flush out the tubes. then put the filter in and let it run like 5 minutes to flush out the carbon and factory dust from the new filter. then taste test. good to go. the ring left in the gaskets on the top and bottom of the old cartridge is from the top case and bottom base pressing in on the cartridge to form the seal that is needed to make the thing work. and you need to use the wrench and muscle to crank the case back on so it forms a good seal again.

It improves the quality of the tap water.
The tap water in my city is not safe to drink. I use this product for the first stage of filtration. Then I use my gravity water filtration system for the second stage of filtration. The water is safe and it tastes great!
