Northern Lights Candles Spirit Candles, Dark Rum & Oak

Super cute candle, bought for a Christmas gift. It smells great. The glass is a smokey color, which makes a nice touch. Super clean looking candle.

I almost never review anything, but I found this candle interesting . . . so, here's the good and bad. First off, the bad - 1) It is very small. I am a 59 year old average-size woman and it fits comfortably inside of my grip. About the size of a Campbell's soup can. 2) The "throw" (hate this jargon, btw) is small, as well. The scent doesn't pervade the whole house, but given a little time, it will become noticeably pleasant in a single room. Now the good! - 1) The smell, subtle as it can be, is complex and remarkable. I seriously love it. It smells like an old, woody, wet, smokey, rum-soaked pirate ship and I can close my eyes and indulge all of my old lady pirate ship captain fantasies. I'm always the captain, BTW. It's my fantasy, I can do what I want. 2) It has a nice, slow, nearly smoke-free burn. The wick is perfectly centered and I have gotten over a week's worth of evening burns from one candle. 3) The jar is so freaking cute. I plan to freeze out the remaining wax and use the jar with its burnt cork cap to hold small things in my craft room. Very nicely packaged. Overall, I feel like the good outweighs the bad on this line of candles and I plan to order more in the future. Thanks for reading one of my rare reviews!

This candle looks great. The rustic, manly packaging makes it an excellent gift for anyone who likes scented candles of this style. The scent is also as advertised. My only complaint is that the scent really isn't strong enough for me. It's there and might be great for most people, but I just wish it was a bit stronger.

I am a true candle lover. I’ve purchased many candles of varying kinds over the years and I must say, these are an extraordinarily high quality burn. Absolutely superb. There is no smoking. The wicks have not needed trimming, and the flame is always strong, centered, and stable. It does not drown in the wax. Nor does it flicker, dance, or smoke due to variances in the wick or wax. However, the scent (although pleasant) is not true to the label, nor is it as strong as I would have liked or anticipated. It may work for a small room (such as a bath, small bedroom, or reading nook), but it certainly will not work if you’re attempting to scent a larger living area. That was a huge disappointment for me. With that said, if a more subtle scent is your preference, these would work perfectly for you. As some have said, there is a “vanilla” aroma, which is true in my opinion. I expected a muskier, woodier, more masculine scent that is true to its label. In all honesty, I don’t find that here. Having lived in Ireland for a semester, where the warmth of “whiskey and tobacco” bring wonderful memories of the land, people and culture, I really hoped this candle would deliver — but it did not. I would buy these again for small rooms, but I would reticently recommend them to others — with the understanding that they will not adequately perfume large areas. As for price point, they are smaller than most candles, making them pricey. But if quality is what you’re after, I would consider them reasonable, especially if you want a more subtle scent. I give three stars. In all, this is a high quality candle that gives a beautiful and stable burn. I applaud the company for its choice of unique scents and their rustic design. When burning, the amber glass is really beautiful! I absolutely love them in that regard. But a huge disappointment on the quality and strength of scent. They could do much better. An added note for those concerned with shipment: I received these in perfect condition wrapped thickly in brown packaging paper within layers of bubble wrap; pecisely as I would expect for any glass object or candle.

I never thought I'd write this sentence, but this is the worst candle I ever bought. Its the size of a 3 or 4 dollar candle. Made me look back at the description. A Pic shows dims of 3 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall. It's actually 2 3/8" wide (I guess its extreme rounding) and just under 4" tall. It you get real close you can get a vague hint of paraffin scent, but no whiskey and tobacco scent at all. Zero. This is a candle con!

This candle hits many right notes. First, the glass holder is attractive with its sepia tones. The candle is quite long burning and even surprisingly so. It’s a little bit smaller than some other candles, but it seems to burn for a long time. The fragrance is also very satisfying. It’s not overpowering, but has a pleasantly sober quality that is excellent for accompanying various activities. One of the unique and quite satisfying touches is the cork lid with its weathered look.If you want an extremely powerful candle in terms of fragrance, this is not it. But if you’re looking for something that you can keep on and that provides some fragrance in this register, this one is a winner.

En principio el aroma no es tan fuerte, pero conforme se va consumiendo se intensifica el aroma y huele muy bien! El tamaño es más pequeño de lo que pensé que era.
