Descriptive Physical Oceanography: An Introduction

I am a graduate student who works in Earth remote sensing. This book covers a wide variety of topics in physical oceanography, and is a good introduction/reference for the subject. I still refer back to it during my research, and it gave me the information I needed to look more deeply into selected topics covered by the text. If you're looking to learn about sound and light in the sea, water masses in the oceans, heat transfer, and other topics you should consider getting this book, or seeing if your library carries it. One thing to note is that the in-text images are B&W. This isn't a major issue however, because the end of the book has a color image section containing all of the figures (this was done to lower the cost of the text). It was a slight annoyance to have to go to the back to see some color images, but it doesn't take away from the book's content and usefulness. I would recommend this book to a fellow graduate student in oceanography or Earth remote sensing, and to any undergraduates in oceanography looking to learn more about physical oceanography.

The book has the equations written so small they are impossible to read, and there is no way to zoom in on the equations, so basically very important parts are unable to be read.
