MICHELIN 12290 Digital Tyre Pressure gauge with Key Ring & LED Flash Light

Tyres had slow air release due to puncture, inspite of checking at puncture repair shop. So This gadget is much handy, we can check Air pressure of all Tyres within 1 minutes. And I think tyre pressure should be maintained properly, because it impacts riding comfort, handling and average of vehicle. Till now working good. Accuracy is 100 % matchable to Digital machine of shops.

I keep it in my car at all times. It works well and is reasonably accurate. I'm satisfied.

Very accurate, I measure my tyres when they are cold and then after a long drive (hot) and this gauge accurately tells me the pressure difference. Nice tool to have handy, the led light is useless and you have to keep it pressed to use it. Works well for cars as the car tyre valve sticks outwards but scooters and bikes are angled straight so may not be able to use if straight valve. The gauge is very accurate on par with my mechanics air compressor.

As the title suggests, I got no issues with the product but how it was packed. Above you will find a picture attached with my review which will help clarify my issues. In the picture you will find that the packaging of the product is held by two tapes. Now this in itself is not a problem. But the thing is when I received the product, one of the said tapes was torn. This is further evident when the picture is analysed closely. Now considering all this, the prudent thing to do was to request a replacement or recored a video while unpacking. But the reason I didn't do the above are, 1) Hindsight is one hell of a thing 2) I was in immediate need for the gauge as I was heading out. The saving grace for me in all this was that the battery pull tab which separates the battery from the decive was intact. And the screen protector too was untouched. These were the only two reasons that gave me a bit of confidence as to I was not getting a used product and I went with what I got. But still, seeing all this does leave a bit of a sour taste in your mouth. Other than this the gauge's good. The readings are accurate (in my opinion). The keyring is handy. Would love to see it priced lower as it's made in China. There's a bit of a learning curve when you start using it. And all that's left to see is how long it lasts. Note - Gauge deserves 4 stars. Removed 1 for the lackluster packaging.

I'm really happy with how it works so far, it is light weight and easy to use. It fits well over the Tyre stem and provides a secure connection. It appears accurate. I use it with my Hyundai i20 elite that has separate Tyre pressure monitoring system indicators for each wheel and this gauge reading matches those readings. It would be better if there were a separate button for changing type of reading (PSI, bar, KPA, kg per cm) To turn ON the gauge, have to push the ON button to activate the gauge. The Screen will flash and will show "0.0" with default unit (in PSI). Press and hold the button for 3 seconds, it will cycle between the different readings and you have to put it back to the desired type of reading before you proceed. This also can happen when you turn it off. If you don't, it will likely be set on the wrong type of reading, the next time you turn it on. I found that you can get used to this behavior, but even after using it several times, this is still rather annoying.It runs on 2 CR2032 3V battery and seems like replaceable by unscrewing 1 screw at the back. It takes 2 CR2032 3V Lithium Coin Cell. Pro: -LED light makes it really easy to use in the dark -Easily forms a seal with the valve stem to get an accurate read on the first try(this was my main gripe with other gauges I've used) -Large white backlit LCD display -It comes with Key ring and user manual -Accuracy - pressure +/- 1 percent (as compared to others Tyre pressure gauge available in market) Cons: -It is difficult to read for spoke wheels Tyre in bikes.(Doesn't fit well) I'm not sure what else one would need from a Tyre gauge, so this one gets an A+. Over all I'm very much satisfied with the purchase and I'll be using it every week to just monitor the tyre pressure.

Defective item. Shows reading at times only

First the good points. Build quality and general feel of the product: Really well built. Though light, the plastic quality is good and should last many years. The attached hook looks tough and is made of metal with gloss finish. The spring of the hook feels sturdy. Accuracy: The readings matched with a Bergmann Typhoon pump so I feel the accuracy to be reliable. Packaging: It came in a blister pack which removes any chance of tampering. The packaging and printing looks good and attractive. It comes with a small booklet inside with usage instructions. A simple diagrammatic instruction is also printed on the back of outer package. A good thing was there was a slip of paper that broke contact with the battery thus preserving its shelf life. I think it was a thoughtful touch which very few gadgets come up with. So even if you get a year or two old stock, you can rest assured that the battery would still hold more than 90% of charge. LED light: The inclusion of a small LED is a nice touch. It has a sufficient throw and also has the added convenience of being a small torch. Battery Saving: The device switches off automatically after 10 seconds saving battery in the process. The device comes loaded with two CR2032 batteries, which are same as one would find in most car remotes, so availability of batteries is not an issue. Screen: The display is the cake here. It is an inverse backlit LCD which works well in bright daylight as well as in the dark. The display is also crisp with large legible digits. Now coming to the niggles: The measuring process takes a few tries to get it right without losing air. Initially, I lost a few PSIs while trying to measure the air pressure. The fit between the tyre valve and the meter is not snug, so unless you hold the meter in the correct position, you'll leak air. There's an angle (a slight tilt towards the user) that eliminates air loss as opposed to a straight fit. But that may vary from vehicle to vehicle. In an ideal condition you should not lose more than 0.5psi of air during measurement. The length could have been a centimeter less in my opinion, although I have no issues with the design and portability. At 9.3cms, the device could pose a fitting problem with some motorcycle tyres or tyres with spokes. All in all, I would say it is a good, well-built product with nothing to complain about if one can stomach the considerably high price. Given it is made in china, the price benefit could surely have been passed on to the consumer. I would give this product 4.5 stars.

Why this product over others - Brand and Accuracy you can count on, although it is China Manufactured. Why not buy the entire automated Air Pump - Battery operated Tyre Air Inflator has very less practical use unless you are an off-roader and have very frequent outstation trips in desserts locations. Why not the Wireless 4 Tyre pressure monitoring system - Is it really value for money ?? In India - average quality tyre monitoring system costs 6-7K and installation would cost ~300 bucks What would have been better - A leather jacket or customer leather protection is a must, as the product is Plastic body, and presume to be kept in harsh conditions (Glove Box, etc) - that will lead to permanent scratches. Also, rather than entire plastic body, the pressure gauge nozzle should have been metal. Buy it if you get it under 1000 bucks !! Worth wise - it’s worth not more than 500-700 bucks.
