Plenty of ports and right price.

Worked for a couple of months, then now just power cycles. Product support is almost entirely absent. Their warranty is useless given their lack of accountability towards it. Order a more reputable brand like Netgear or TP-Link. Or buy this and have to purchase a better product 3 months later.

The Tenda TEG1116M is a reliable and cost-effective 16-port Gigabit switch for home networks. It is entirely plug-and-play, making setup quick and simple without requiring any configuration or additional software. The dedicated uplink ports are a nice touch, making it easy to cascade the switch with others or connect directly to a router. Performance-wise, it handles network traffic efficiently, thanks to its 32Gbps switching capacity and 2M buffer, ensuring smooth data transfers even when managing multiple devices. One nice feature is the 6 kV lightning protection, which adds a layer of safety against power surges. I have no way to test this feature directly, but it’s nice to know the design includes this level of precaution. The fanless metal construction is also a plus, keeping the unit quiet while allowing for good heat dissipation. My main criticism is the use of an external power brick. In my experience, external power supplies tend to be less durable and can fail after a few years. Embedding the power supply within the unit would enhance both longevity and overall build quality. That said, for its price point, this switch delivers excellent value and solid performance. Overall, this is a great option for expanding a home network, especially if you don’t mind the external power supply.

I had an 8-port Tenda ethernet switch in my server closet that worked well for many years, so when I found that I needed more ports, I decided to go for the Tenda brand again. This 16-port gigabit switch reserves 2 ports for uplink that I plug into my router. The rest are, as the description says, plug and play. I simply unplugged my existing switch, put this new one in and plugged everything back in. There was minimal disruption to my network and everything just worked. It's been over a month and I found no problems with my network. It has been stable and did not lose any speed. Overall, this did exactly what I expected and it's something that just works.
