Impressive-A True Cyclist's Jacket
1 YEAR UPDATE: Still in PERFECT condition! Like new, zipper are still good, elastic is good, everything is still water tight. It has only gotten dirty, and you can wash it just like regular clothing so that's not an issue. Couldn't be happier.Original Review:SHORT STORY: Great if you are a cyclist. 1 pocket in back and breast pocket. 100% waterPROOF. Very durable. If you just want a fully waterproof jacket, save your money and get something better that has more practical features like front pockets. The bad first. Yes, this jacket is expensive. Do not buy this if you are not a very frequent cyclist. It does NOT have front pockets. Only a breast pocket and a back pocket. Both are very good, however, and waterproof. They are mesh inside. The jacket is absolutely 100% waterproof, and suprisingly warm, as I have worn it (while biking) in 50 degree weather by itself and that makes up for it. However, I would have preferred front pockets, and a little more insulation I suppose. Maybe a real lining. Now for why I gave it 5 starts. It is extremely thin, high tech fabric, and is comfortable to wear on your bare skin. The hood is detachable, (It comes with the fully gore-tex red one, NOT THE GREY one in the picture up there) but I use it and slip it under my helmet for extra warmth, as the whole jacket is windproof and waterproof, including the hood. The jacket has a longer back already, but if the ground is wet, this jacket has an additional few inches to cover your rear end from road spray, and believe, me, this works very, very well. I got mine in red for $279.99 here on amazon, in size XL. It fits be perfectly. I am 6 foot 4, wide but fit build, and arms as long as Micheal Phelps'. The jacket's arms and torso length miraculously still fully, and comfortably cover my huge body. This jacket is truly designed for cyclists and can be a great year round jacket to last you many years. It is designed specifically for the cycling position. I ride very aggressively (position very forward) and have had no problems. It has elastic on the waist, velcro on the wrists for sealing yourself off or locking down gloves, and a restraint system for tightening the hood as well, but it could be better. The hood is small enough to get under a helmet without much extra fabric. It will not go over a helmet. The shoulders are reinforced for hitting trees while mountain biking, as this is actually made for mountain biking in my opinion. The reinforcements are also slightly rubberized, making backpacks less likely to slip around on the otherwise slippery surface of the jacket. I have a chrome citizen and it doesn't slide at all, or interfere with the breast pocket. The back pocket is roomy, and easy to access while riding unless you have a backpack which comes far down your back. My Chrome Citizen doesn't interfere but that is a messenger bag which sits high on my back, so think about that.It should also be noted that the entire jacket folds, and zips into the back pocket. Also, for the record, this is the new model for 2013. I bike commute in NYC every day and have seen no one with this jacket except a professional bike messenger, but even he had the old model. Once again, this is 100% waterproof, windproof, and extremely durable. Great visibility and it looks good too. The red that I purchased is slightly on the flashy side for me, but its nothing to unusual and I would rather be seen on the road than in danger of not being seen, and that's the trade-off I make.Amazing jacket. I bought it impulsively and I still have not regretted it.

Much lighter than I expected
This is my third Gore bike jacket and I'm still feeling out this most recent purchase. The previous two were fairly heavy duty, one survived a crash test with only minor abrasion damage, which was better than I fared (fortunately Gore patches are available in matching colors!). This one seems to have a better mesh barrier than the previous two and weighs much less, which I suppose is a good thing. I was concerned the light weight would offer less insulation ( I bike commute in Idaho and it can get pretty chilly) but so far the coat has been very effective at all things Gore: it's light, it's windproof and it breathes pretty well (did I mention my commute has some big hills and I am a heavy sweater?) Because of the lighter shell, I'm thinking this will be a three-season jacket for me: spring, summer and fall but because of the heavier shell, the last one was winter, spring and fall. Since we don't get a lot of rain in the summer here I have to drop the rating from a perfect 5.

Great MTB Bad Weather Jacket
I ride my MTB in the Pacific North West all year round and in the Fall and Winter and Spring months temps can vary between 15 deg F and 50 deg F. It can be pouring rain, or drizzling, or dry but really cold. This jacket is what I turn to when the weather is bad. It is great wind and water protection and still pretty breathable. Way more breathable than any other jacket I have ever tried. I've worn this (with multiple base layers) down to 17 deg F and as warm and 40 deg F without working up a giant sweat. And, it keeps me warm on the fast downhills.

Best cycling jacket I've had so far, has a few minor flaws.
A very nice piece of gear overall. More breathable than any of my previous water-resistant jackets. The cycling-specific fit is very nice, although it runs a bit small IMO. The only (minor) cons so far are:-the lack of some sort of face "guard" (probably will buy a face warmer to absorb the dirty splashes caused by my wheels)-the fact that the under-flap can't be secured to the Alp-X pants (there are buttons on it, but nothing on the pants)-crappy front zipper (you have to position both halves just right, and it's pretty hard to zip up the first time) - okay if you don't unzip it all the way though, but still a design flaw. Maybe I just got a faulty one though.

Snug fit, works better in cold weather or sweat will build up
This jacket is a tight fit for a large, I have a 39 inch chest and 13 inch forearms when bent and flexed or 11.5 when normal and the forearm area would be to tight if I was any bigger...Jacket to hot for mild or even cool temperatures & rain and better for those really cold rainy days or the sweat builds up and you get wet from your own humidity when pedaling your bike.Great for a wind breaker as it breaths, not like the high end North face wind breaker I have as it does not seem to breath at all even when washed without fabric softener it is a waist of money and falsely advertised, as usual.

Best jacket out there!
I'm 6'4 215lbs, XXL size fits great. All details are high quality. The first day I had it, it rained , I was blown away by the rain protection, yet breathable. Works as well as a windbreaker while riding in cooler weather. The styling is great, I picked the red one so wearing it casually works too- the rear end flap tucks up and out of the way. Like anything in life, you get what u pay for, it's not cheap, but money can't buy a better wind/rain jacket.

Wildly exceeded expectations.
Almost the perfect jacket. Made riding in the rain a non issue. Fits perfectly for me - 42" chest, 15.5" neck, 33.5" sleeves is my usual size and a large was exactly right.Works not only for rain, but as a great top layer over some merino wool in the winter.

Great fit / design - well thought out for road use
This is not a cheap cycling jacket. But it is really well made and well thought out.Very light and pretty windproof too. Definitely very breathable as you would expect from goretex.Great fit - snug yet plenty of room to move for cycling eg prebent and longer arms, longer back to cover your bum and protect from splashes. Yet tight enough to be aerodynamic. Also very comfortable when you are hunched down on the drops but not baggy at the back when you are sitting more upright. The rear pocket is large and the zip for it appears to be waterproof ( from my testing in the rain so far ) which is great for protecting iphones or other items that you don't want to get wet. The zip is also protected by a flap of material. The back pocket will hold a banana, rigid glasses case, iphone and the hood. And the front pocket is fine for holding a couple of smaller items too. Cash and pack of tissues for example. So why only 4 stars? The outer material is not going to survive too much abuse or crashes. As a minimum, I would have expected some slightly re-inforced elbow material as that tends to be where the damage is done to jackets when you come off.At this price I was expecting something slightly tougher. If you are not going to fall off, then this is an amazing jacket and it would get 5 stars.I don't think I will ever use the hood (detachable with a zip) except for as spare material to patch up any rips / tears which appear following an accident - its nice to have that much spare material to hand for that purpose. But if you have to wait around in the rain before or after an event, the hood could come in really handy.

Awesome commuter jacket
Awesome commuter jacket, Fully water proof.Athletic fit, so if you want to layer up - I'd recommend a size larger.I'm about a 39inch chest and medium with a baselayer is managable

Sizing issues
I bought a XXL size. The jacket is at best L. Thought it my be me getting bigger, however a previous sized jacket XXL was comfortably big enough. My nephew tried the jacket, his normal fit is medium to large. It was a perfect fit on him.
