Like many other people I'm sure, I came to this tape after reading James Nestor's book Breath. The purpose of buying the tape - for me - was to reduce my mouth breathing habit, rather than due to a snoring problem. However, the goal is the same... to breath through the nose rather than the mouth while sleeping. The packet has a nice design with a pleasant modern font, is easy to open and can be resealed again easily, which is good for hygiene purposes. Inside are 31 (i.e., a month's worth) of individual pieces of tape with which to cover your mouth. The tape itself is very reminiscent of physio tape. It sticks very well, has a matte finish, black in colour, and is stretchy and flexible. The amount of stretch is just right, enough to allow enough movement that it doesn't just fall off as soon as your lips move slightly, but tight enough to make a total seal and force your nose to do ALL of the breathing. I have facial hair around the mouth, however this was not an issue at all for this tape, which stays firmly put until I am ready to remove it. In the book, the author states that he managed 10 minutes on the first night before feeling claustrophobic and ripping the tape off his mouth. I was therefore very happy that I managed two hours on night one, although really this only served to expose the true extent of my night time mouth breathing problem, which results in waking in the night with a dry mouth gasping for water, and having terrible morning breath. The next night I managed four hours, and so on and so on. A little longer each night, and I'm definitely now noting that my mouth feels less dry and uncomfortable through the night as the tape forces me to nose breath. Quite a rudimentary solution, but this tape is extremely effective in helping you toward that all night nose breathing goal.
