Q: Is it easy to assemble

I haven’t put mine together yet, as we are still chin deep in snow. Looking at the instructions, and what not, it looks very easy to assemble. A cordless drill/socket set would the best to use.

Q: Has anyone tried to paint this metal so it isn't as shiny? I was thinking a medium gray rustoleum paint that matches our house.

Yes you could stack them. It would make assembly more complicated but the hardware that comes with them should allow you to stack them.
