Great Gasket But Make Sure to Clean Old One Off Completely
Bought the product after the original gasket became flattened and hard. I noticed I couldn't keep my smoking temps down below 300 as I no longer had a good seal. I decided to try this product because I was disappointed the original gasket did not last very long - about a year and a half. Removing the old gasket was labor intensive and time consuming. After using razor blades and paint scrapers to get most of the old gasket off I was left with the adhesive residue which turned out to be the most difficult part to remove. After trying many different methods I ended up using very coarse sand paper to clean off the rest of the gasket residue. Had I known to use the sand paper I would have reduced the removal time of the old gasket from about 2.5 hours by about an hour. Using the sand paper I was able to get my egg perfectly clean with no discoloring left on the ceramics. I believe this is essential getting a new gasket to adhere properly and last a long time. A final wipe with acetone completed the job and the new gasket was very easy to apply with the adhesive backing following the instructions. 1 year later the gasket works perfectly after heavy use and is holding up much better than the original. I've had my egg up to 625 degrees and no problems yet. An advantage I discoverd over the original gasket is when liguids are dripped or spilled on the new gasket it does not seem to absorb them. I think this helps with longevity as I noticed spilled liguids on the original gasket would cause it to harden and shrink and it would not conform to the other side of the gasket in those areas. This gasket does not do that and remains soft and conforms to create a good air tight seal. After spending a couple of hours cleaning off the old gasket I want make sure I use the best replacement gasket and spend the least amount of time repeating that task. This is a great product and worth the extra cost.

High quality gasket that holds up to high temps
I've been a Big Green Egg owner for over 13 years and have purchased this gasket several times. It's a quality gasket that is easy to install and holds up well to high temperatures.

Great Gasket
I bought this gasket after I burned my second factory Primo gasket making a pizza on my Kamado grill. This product was as described and was shipped quickly. The quality of the gasket seems to be there and installation was a breeze. This gasket has the adhesive already on the back with a peel-away strip that you remove when you are ready to place the gasket. I had no trouble installing the gasket. So far it has performed well, I have yet to do a high temp pizza bake though, and will update my review with the results when I do. A few notes: 1) Be sure to clean the rim of your Primo well before installation. This is important to ensure that this gasket has a good bond to the grill. The best way to do this is to get a scraper and scrape your old gasket off. Then I used some fine sandpaper to get any other grit/fiber off of the rim. Lastly, use some acetone and a cloth to remove any residual adhesive from the last gasket off of the grill and let the rim dry. 2) This gasket does NOT need to be 'pre-shrunk' in the dryer. If you attempt to do this you will most likely ruin the adhesive on the back and probably your dryer as well. This is not like other gaskets that have a separate adhesive and can be pre-shrunk prior to installation. I will attempt to update this review as I continue to grill to comment on the durability and 'high heat resistance' of this gasket. UPDATE 7/27/13 - This gasket is still running strong. I have done many low and slow as well as high heat cooks and the gasket still adheres well and has not burnt up like the factory gasket did. More than likely the biggest reason people have trouble with the gasket adhering is because they did not clean the grill correctly. Be sure to use the scraper/sandpaper/ and acetone. I would still give this gasket 5 stars.

Works great.
I used the gasket on my Primo Oval and it works very well. Two challenges in the install - you really need to clean up your old gasket and that required significant work with my Dremel and sand paper. Second the gasket is pretty thick and that necessitated completed loosening of retaining bands and the hinge to accommodate the new gasket. It's a good product - sticks great and seals well, but takes a little work to get right.

Recently installed on a newer Primo 300 in about 30 minutes. (I had the dome off to adjust the band/hinge bolts which had not been installed correctly at the factory). The original base to dome protection gasket peeled off within a minute and it took another couple of minutes to wipe the surfaces clean with acetone. Once dry, it took less than 5 minutes to do the base and another 5 minutes to do the dome. Follow the instructions and do not allow stretching or overhang into the grill. This is the second time I've used High-Que peel and stick gaskets. My Medium Big Green Egg has a nomex that is four years old and still works just fine, including a pizza cook at least every couple of weeks. have had no issues with the self adhesive feature at all. There are many options out there, including some gaskets that are not food grade and require the use of RTV type gasket material used as an adhesive. This product (if the original is any indicator) will last for a few years making the cost < $8 a year, very reasonable.

I bought this to replace my 6 year old gasket on my large Big Green Egg. I was going to use the BGE replacement but I felt the price was unjustified. While this gasket is pricey as well it is half what the OE one is. It works well. I found the adhesive was quite sticky and it works well. The gasket is two years old now and it is still in great shape. The Egg stays outside thorough -35c to +30c weather. It is still sticking and seals great.
