These burn well for smudging, but are definitely better if broken down into smaller pieces
Although these burn fairly well, and have a great scent (A really nice smell without burning as well), they work better if broken down into 4 or 5 thinner pieces. It was really easy to thin them out, only taking a couple of minutes for each piece, using a screwdriver and my vice, but a little variation in sizes in the package would have helped. I don't know if this is real Sandalwood, or other wood that contains sandalwood oil, honestly not an expert, but for me, that doesn't really matter. I am simply happy that you get so much at a great price and that it comes in an easy to store metal container.

26 Sticks of Pleasant Sandal Oil Wood Scent, A Little Goes a Long Way
This is a nice collection of Sandal Oil Wood sticks that come in a sealed plastic bag, inside of a thin metal hinged box. I was a bit confused by the picture of the box in the Amazon listing as to whether or not a "burner" was also included. There is no "burner" included with these sticks, just the sticks and the metal hinged box. The sticks feel slightly "oiled" when I handle them. I also didn't have an idea of how many "sticks" would make up 1000 grams, so I weighed and measured them. I received a total of 26 sticks. Each stick measures between 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch .. by 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch ... by 5 inches long. I weighed all 26 sticks together on my postal scale - my scale said 990 grams. So, at least for me, it took 26 sticks to total up to 990 or 1,000 grams. (my scale could be off a bit.) I wasn't at all familiar with "Sandal Oil Wood," all I knew was that I was gifted some soap a few years ago, Sandalwood scent, and thought it was great. So I tried out these sticks. The sticks have a nice sandalwood scent, even without burning them. When I was handling the sticks, counting and measuring and weighing them, now even my hands have a slight sandalwood smell on them. There were no directions inside of my packaging, so I followed the instructions on the Amazon listing ... which said to, "Take a piece of charcoal & heat it with a small flame (lighter/cooker) for about 60 seconds until it becomes red hot. Place the red hot coal on the incense burner with tongs. Place 1 piece on the charcoal & scented smoke will diffuse very quickly." So, that's what I did ... I fired up my small butane lighter ... heated one corner of one stick ... and it worked just fine. My sticks don't really much "burn," they do get red hot ... then the heat dies out ... and they emit a very nicely scented white smoke ... for maybe 5 seconds or so. It seems to me that a couple of rounds of this brief end of stick lighting ... will be more than enough to leave a nice sandalwood scent in my room. And at this rate, I will have plenty of sandalwood scent for a very long time. The thin metal box says that the product was "packed by" Hermani International in Pakistan. The box is very thin, and came to me very slightly scratched and dented. On the front of the box, it says, among other things, "Live Natural Sandal Oil Wood." As far as I can tell, there is nothing "live" in this package. I saw other reviews on Amazon that the Sandalwood was "fake" or "not pure." I'm sure I would not know the difference one way or the other. But I do know that I like the sticks, I like Sandalwood, and for me, "a little will go a long way." I'll be enjoying these sticks for a long time.

Nice big collection of sand wood sticks
This beautiful box came with a very large assortment of sandalwood incense. Box came with no dents or imperfections. The sandalwood was wrapped and had moisture control included. The sandalwood itself smells great. Very happy with this item.

Santalicious! Hemani Incense Box - My New Holy Grail of Relaxation
Forget incense cones and sticks that smell like a tire fire in a petting zoo. Hemani's Sandal Oil Wood Box is the real deal, folks. This isn't your grandma's mothball-scented church incense. This is the olfactory equivalent of a spa day in a redwood forest. Let me tell you, these sticks are like magic wands for your nose. One light, and poof! Your living room transforms into a serenity temple. Stress melts away faster than ice cream in Texas. My worries float off like dandelion seeds on a gentle breeze. And don't even get me started on the scent. It's rich, it's warm, it's woody, it's... well, it's sandalwood. What more needs to be said? It's like Mother Nature bottled the essence of chill and put it in a box. If you're looking for a way to unwind, de-stress, or just create a relaxing ambiance, look no further than Hemani's Sandal Oil Wood Box. It's the perfect gift for yourself, your stressed-out coworker, or anyone who could use a little peace and quiet in their life. Sure, it might be a little more expensive than your average incense stick, but trust me, it's worth every penny. This is an investment in your well-being. You'll thank me later.

Case of sandalwood chunks.
In this large, ornate tin is a bag of Jenga-piece sized pieces of fragrant sandalwood. They have a rich, dark, oily appearance and are slightly larger than most Palo Santo wood pieces. The wood itself is soft and workable, and it is dry enough to burn effectively despite being full of the exquisite oil. The scent of the wood is easy to notice and for those who like incense, it will be familiar. I have been experimenting with ways to burn the mini-logs outside of the fireplace. I mostly use a small cast iron pan or portable fire box stove, but the wood can also be shaved or split and burned that way. I have also thrown a few slices in the fireplace and it literally made the whole block smell of sandalwood! Overall, this is a high quality pack of incense in the form of raw, dried wood. It can be used to make miniature crafts, it can be burned, and can also be left unburned to add a consistent, although minimal scent.

Its good but the Best
The sandalwood sticks come in large sizes that are not suitable for burning in an incense burner. For that you need to cut it into small pieces which is a pain. When burning directly with a torch light, the sticks don't stay lit for a long time hence its efficacy is limited. I wish they had made the sticks in smaller sizes out of the package so it can be easily used on an Bukhoor burner. Overall, it smells good but not as effective as bukhoor. If you can cut it in small sizes it's a good buy. Otherwise not
