Easy SATA to install. Needs Disk Manager to format and label before using
I bought this 1TB HDD as secondary storage for a self-build Windows PC which also has a 250GB SSD. This disk was a replacement by Amazon for another of the same type which I couldn't get to work, and didn't show up in Disk Manager or even in the operating system if I used diskpart followed by list volume. Well done Amazon for replacing the product so quickly. Out of the box, this HDD did show up in Disk Manager and Device Manager (but not Windows File Explorer or diskpart/list volume). I carried out a quick NTFS format using Disk Manager, labelled the volume, and then the HDD was up and running, showing in File Explorer etc. So far the HDD is performing well and speedily, and the purchase was good value. Great customer service from Amazon too.

Excellent value for money + read/write speed
I cannot recommend this HDD well enough. As an IT professional I can guarantee that it's perfect for gaming and even computing. Already bought 3 of these bad boys and none of them let me down so far. This edition of HDD is a "pro" edition compared to the 2TB and higher ones. Performance is excellent, you won't even notice you are not using an SSD. Having several SSD's and these HDD's, the only major difference I can notice is the price. Buy SSD if you don't have anything else to do with your money, and buy this particular HDD if you don't have a lot of money and you need good performance and plenty of space. Do note that CPU/RAM/MB make a major difference in read/write speed of your HDD.

Reliable 24/7
Had this drive installed inside an NVR and hasn't stopped since March - the write speed is fast enough to handle 4 simultaneous camera feeds, the read speed is fast enough to scrub through the footage from the 4 camera feeds at the same time. What can you expect more, it is a bog-standard hard drive with a great warranty if anything were to happen. For anyone looking for something fast, look for an SSD. If you're looking for something decently priced and accessing the drive on occasion I would consider this hard drive or any other Seagate drive for it's intended use.

Perfectly adequate.
Large 1TB drive that delivers as it should. Good value and only time will tell if it lasts the distance. So far so good.

Did the job in an old office PC.
The hard disk in my mum's PC was making worrying sounds and starting to fail, so I backed up what I could (just as well I did, it died shortly afterwards!) and bought this. Installation was as easy as you'd expect for a SATA drive, just plug in the power and drive cable. I know others have complained about the use of Shingled Magnetic Recording, but according to the Seagate website, the 1TB version of this drive (which is what I bought) uses conventional recording, so this wasn't an issue for us. Drive has been installed for a while now and seems to be doing fine.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
What is there to say? It's a Hard Disk at the end of the day with a lot greater storage than I already had. However, it arrived very quickly and works like a charm. I am lucky in that I was able to image my old disk drive onto it, but it went flawlessly. It's a SATA disk so it's a little noisier than an SSD but I already knew that and there is something quite soothing hearing it whirring away knowing that it is functioning correctly. It's a cheaper option too so it suited my budget.

Good for GNU Slash Linux
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

Very quiet and pretty fast
Very good performance so far keeping up with gaming. It is a very quiet hdd and the speed is acceptable, as after all it is an hdd not ssd. It fits perfectly on the hdd holders on my pc and has enough storage space for most things that people will need it for. Recommended if you need some extra storage.
