It's a light socket but it's plenty strong for your typical sbc 350. The only way this would break is if your block crank is seized. Great product!

Awesome little tool
This tool is perfect for its intended use & a few others. There have been some bad reviews for this product being aluminum & not strong enough. This was not designed to turn a complete engine loaded with full compression. It is to turn the crankshaft, & protect the crankshaft snout while building the rotating assembly on your engine build. It works perfectly for that use. And as a bonus, I've found that the OD is the same size as the harmonic balancer shaft OD so I also use this socket to help center the front seal when installing the timing cover. It locates the seal precisely where it needs to be to perfectly align with the harmonic balancer to insure no oil leaks like you'll get from a seal that is a little off center. All in all this is a well built, strong yet lightweight, very economic awesome little tool for its intended job. Buy it, you won't regret it. No more chunked up crankshafts from turning them with the wrong tool.

Great item
Few negative comments talking about how it stripped and not made well, etc. I have had this item for over a year and 7 builds later still looks brand new. First off it supposed to be softer metal then the crank so the cheaper socket will strip versus damaging your engine parts. Secondly these sockets (this and other brands) are not intended to turn over a complete motor with spark plugs (building compression). That usually is what you do with the crank bolt (grade 8) or the flywheel adapter tool (big rod that bolts to the back of the crank to turn the motor over. If you are using this tool for engine building it is a great tool and delivers just fine. If your trying to adjust valves on a complete motor, not intended for that or at least pull the spark plugs.

Turns Crank, Very Light Duty
This piece fit perfectly over the sun of my sbc crank and did a fine job turning it over, even with all the pistons installed. I was shocked at how light it is, and don't really mean that in a good way. You couldn't use this to try and bust a stick crank loose, maybe not even one that is having trouble turning. It looks like a regular socket but weighs considerably less. Also, it is too short to fully seat the timing gear. That would have been nice to do with this tool.

Fits SBC!
I was a little nervous at first. However, super impressed now that I’ve used it. Socket material is soft. However, that keeps the crank safe. Remember this isn’t a socket you use with impact or to drive seals, races, etc. This socket if taken care of will be a lifetime tool. This fits SBC cranks perfect!

Works as advertised
This is a great way to manually rotate the crank and valve train while working on a SBC. It’s not made for use with an impact wrench or other motor driven device, it’s designed for use with a 1/2” ratchet. It’s made of aluminum so it won’t damage the end of the crankshaft sand worked great for me as I replaced the camshaft and valve springs without removing the engine from the car

Product works on a Chevy 350 5.7L V8 despite what the description says. My engine is built brand new so there won't be any seizing. For the people that said this product broke it's because there's something wrong with your engine and it's seized. This is aluminum so if you have a less than ideal engine it may break but for me it worked perfectly.
