Everybody should own one
This is hands-down the best and only choice for a backpack. It is a classic design that is very well made with high-quality materials. It is truly made to last. I have had this bag since 7th grade, which was 12 years ago -- literally HALF of my life!! It has been with me through middle school, high school, college, bus rides, train rides, car rides, airports, road trips, unfathomable amounts of beach days and camping trips, tons of trips to different states and a trip to Japan, and when I joined the military I cut the logo off and it's gone with me everywhere. I just purchased my second Jansport backpack because the seam on the top of the front pocket was coming apart, but considering how long I've had the bag and how much wear-and-tear I've put on it through, it is a value that is hard to beat by any other product ever made, ever.My only complaint is that the lining on the inside of the bag started peeling off several years ago and there was a lot of flakey pieces inside the bag that got on my stuff, but once it all peeled off there wasn't a problem. Kind of like skin peeling after a sunburn :)

Not as big as I hoped
I needed a bag to carry all of my work in, being a full-time freelance writer. I usually carry my laptop (in a sleeve), laptop cord, mouse, mousepad, a book or two, planner, pens, and notebooks (maybe 2 tops). All of this, even though the pens were in the front pocket and most of the items were on the smaller side, felt like it was jammed into the bag. I also had to push the laptop in the sleeve back into the bag to make it fit.On the plus side, I bought the grey/black botanical and couldn't be happier with the way it looks! The birds are absolutely stunning and it makes for a more adult-looking bag, in my opinion. Even though I have some issues with the size, I'd still recommend the bag. Could be my laptop is a little too large and it's my fault for not double checking before purchasing. Bag seems like it's made very well and will last for years.

Basic Backpack
My sister is a college student. She carries a lot of crap with her around campus. She originally had a purse to carry her stuff in but it just started getting too heavy, resulting in hurting her shoulder. I got her this basic backpack to carry her stuff in. I've seen JanSport backpacks in stores that cost anywhere from $50-$70, so I went to Amazon and got it for much less. Again it's a simple bag, with a front pocket. Now my sister can carry her stuff much easier. Thank you Amazon for such a good deal!

Practical and durable! Will last kids for YEARS!
I am the mother of 5 kids - I have purchased this backpack, in different colors, for each of my children before they have started kindergarten. I have taken them to a local embroidery shop and had their first names written on the outer pocket - so that they don't get lost in the shuffle of 500 kids, some with the same bags. My oldest has been using the same bag for 5 years, and it is still perfect. Each year, the week before school starts, I throw them all in the washer, on cold and gentle, with mild detergent, then I hang them to dry - and they look like new! I am so glad that I haven't wasted money on crappy kids' backpacks that fall apart and look horrible in 6 months. I have an adult friend who got one of these in kindergarten, and used it for ALL 13 years he was in school, then went on to use it through 4 years of college, and is STILL using the SAME bag now, and he is 30. These things are workhorses, worth their weight in gold.

Love my new backpack!
I ordered this backpack in Viking Red which is like a dark red and I am in love with the color!I have always used a Jansport backpack for school and they are perfect! But last year I decided I wanted to try something new so I bought a Herschel backpack. Unfortunately, with the load of classes I was taking, the Herschel I bought was too small. But when I compare the material of the Herschel to the Jansport, the Jansport seemed so cheap. I thought maybe it was a fake one, I am still not sure, I even tried comparing it to my brothers used Jansport. My sister says I just need to break it in.This backpack though has that classic Jansport look and I love it. Has always fit all the books I need and can hold the weight. I can't wait to break it in this fall semester. My only complaint is that I wish they would make the material thicker and more durable like the Herschel backpack. (Jansport seems like its made with one layer and the Herschel is made with 5 layers).Overall, I am happy with the color, hoping its not fake, this is my first time getting a Jansport backpack from Amazon. I usually buy mine in stores. (Tilly's)

Love the value from amazon...
Ok...the last time I owned a jansport backpack was about a decade ago...so I can't really remember and compare the quality back then and now but I'll tell you that for around $15 that amazon had the shocker pink in...it was a steal. So to me I can't really tell the difference. Will make a nice gift for the "tweenies" god daughter or niece still in school who like it simple. This is the same model that my wife used to carry and she loved that it came in this kind of pink(shocker pink bag/dark charcoal strap and back)...she said that if there weren't any "unwritten rules" to professional attire, this would've been a practical bag to use. Fits everything she needs, not small as in, it won't stuff till it bursts from the zippers and isn't too big like a black hole waiting to engulf a whole set of encyclopedias. For amazon's low pricing($15+ for my order) on some of the colors, 5 stars...but for the other color's around 29.99, it's just so and so...probably 3 stars.

The classics never die
I had one of these when I was in elementary school well over 20 years ago. Recently a friend's kid was all excited about getting one, I guess the classics always come back. The backpack arrived as expected, with the legendary quality that has made Jansport one of the best backpack manufacturers ever. Durable high quality materials at a low cost. Can't beat that.
