A solid under desk mount

I used this product to mount a CPU to my sit/stand desk. It is solidly built and functions as described. Although the height adjustment had plenty of room for my large tower case (20 inches tall x 8.5 inches wide), it only adjusts in one inch increments. Half inch increments would be better.I made three modifications to make this mount safe and effective for the sit/stand desk. I mounted the handle it comes with on side instead of the front. In the picture you can see two bolts - those are there to prevent the adjustable height slide from coming out when the desk is lowered and something is underneath the CPU and you lower the desk on top of the something. It happened to me. I also replaced the hand tightening knob - used for adjusting the CPU width - with a bolt, This was to keep the CPU mount from touching the ground when desk is at lowest position. No drilling or cutting was needed to make any of these mods.A couple of other reviewers noted some confusion over the wording of step two in the instructions. Their comments are spot on and you should review before assembly. I was able to flip my desk over to mount the top bracket. I have an engineered bamboo desk top. For mounting I drilled holes using a 5mm brad point bit then tapped the holes with M6 x 1 tap and used M6 bolt to attach. Engineered bamboo has some unique properties that allows you to do this - its the way the manufacturer built the desk.

Solid, simple and inexpensive

The product arrived well packaged and on time. It is constructed of solid components, was a breeze to assemble, functions well and is easy to adjust. I'm using mine to hold a digital audio interface, which is taller than an average tower, but thinner, as well as a 1TB external hard drive. The range of motion was a big factor for me as I need to get to the back of my interface to make adjustments and switch cables. I also have it mounted to a slide-out desk drawer, which wasn't a problem with a sturdy desk. Note: If you're going to do this, measure your slide-out drawer to ensure the mount plate will fit. You'll need about 14". You should also know the thickness of your drawer; the mounting screws are about 3/4" and you don't want them poking through your drawer. Again, only do this if you're confident your slide-out drawer is securely mounted to the desk and can handle the extra weight. By doing this, I can easily slide my interface completely out, rotate it fully, slide it back and have it nicely tucked away. As others have noted, the only part of the assembly that requires any thought is which direction you wish your shelf to open, and this is clearly shown in the directions. I'd also recommend drilling some pilot holes so the screws, which are self-tapping, easily screw completely into your desk. I'm very happy with my purchase, particularly that anything else out there like this product costs significantly more. I highly recommend this product.

This product is poorly designed

On the initial inspection of the product I was very impressed with the build, however the design is faulty. If your desk top tower weights more than 5 to 10 pounds I would not purchase this product. The purpose for which I bought this product was to have a cleaner looking more organized office, with the computer tower up off the floor. After installing this product in my office and placing my desktop tower in the bracket the whole structure leans at an angle. After inspection of the product I found the design flaw lies in the bolt design... The lean is very noticeable and looks very unprofessional and shotty. This bracket has ONE purpose only, to hold you PC in an upright position and it FAILS miserably. If you are reading this and think, "This product will work fine for me, this other customer must have installed it incorrectly," then I suggest putting your tower on a standard scale and if it weighs more than 10 pounds I can guarantee it will not support your computer tower in an upright position./Best Regards

Almost a good product.

Great idea that just doesn't work as well as it should. The PC leans and wobbles. I used this for about two years, but finally took it down.

Better own a file

Mount is not match drilled. Had to file to mount to screw it together at slide mount Just a pain but not a show stopperGuess the designer never put one together.

PC holder

Very nice, heavy duty bracket. My only whine is that once the pc is placed in it, two people are needed to raise or lower it with the tab system that is used to hold it in place.Never-the-less it is well worth the money!

Very good

Nice, solid processor mount. Assembly was very straightforward. The slide attaches to the desk with 10 screws. I was going to use longer ones, but there was no need. As a test, after tightening 3 screws I pulled down on the rails with a decent amount of force (maybe 10-15 pounds) and it didn't budge. I added the other 7 screws and am confident it will handle the weight of the processor and sliding it back-and-forth. Pilot holes may or may not be necessary depending on your desk material, but the slide mount is heavy enough to make it difficult to hold it with one hand while trying to start a screw with the other without slipping. Even with the pilot holes, my forearms were burning after the last 7 screws. Some complained about the vertical arm angle. There is a little with the weight of the processor due to the bracket mounting bolts being so close together. Before adding the processor, I was dead on 90 degrees from desk. After adding processor, the measured angle was just under 3 degrees. Noticeable to me because I knew it was off, but the girlfriend couldn't tell. However, once it was mounted and slide all the way back, I thought it looked fine. Later that night I took the vertical rail off and added a very thin rubber washer to each side and reassembled it. The rubber provided enough friction to maintain the 90 degree point after the processor was added. It may move over time, but as I said, it looks fine. The slide and turning motiond are very smooth, yet "tight" enough to keep it from turning/sliding on its own.

simple and inexpensive

Simple and inexpensive, does just was advertises. I there is an adjustment handle in the back that I wish was more towards the front to make it easier to move around but still does the job nicely.
