Let's get one thing out of the way- Keratin/Brazilian treatments do NOT remove all curl/wave from hair. Their purpose is to smooth, defrizz, and relax texture. If you're looking to do those things and have some time on your hands, this is your stuff! I began by using Ion's Clarifying Shampoo , washing my hair thoroughly three times with it before gently combing out and drying with a large, round brush and high heat. This is where I saw the most damage occur to my hair (albeit very little); if you have insanely thick, always tangled hair like I do, combing without conditioner or leave-in treatment is hell. Be patient, work in small layers, and you'll get through it. I did this before bed, splitting the entire process up into two days. The next morning, I divided my hair into front and side segments and applied the product as described; in small sections, enough to saturate, but only slightly building up on front of my fine-tooth comb with ran through each section. As others mentioned, the fumes here are awful; the product's smell itself isn't so bad, but the chemical stench sneaks up on you! make sure you're in a well-ventilated room and take breaks when you need them. I allowed the application to sit for about 30 minutes, where it dried to a damp-tacky stage. I followed this with the medium-heat blow dry step, again using my large, round brush to dry the product completely while also removing some of my natural curl/wave. This is the half way point, so celebrate! The next step's the real pain. I divided my now-dry hair into three sections again- back and sides- and enlisted my boyfriend to straighten the back portion, using my digital CHI at 365 degrees. You really need to get that straightener up to the roots and thoroughly over the shaft of the hair for at least 8 passes per section, so definitely enlist a friend to help you. I'm pretty good at straightening my hair by this point in my life, but the tiny sections and repeated passes would have been too much for me! Boyfriend did about 12 horizontal layers on the back segment, each divided into 4 smaller groups. I then completed each side on my own. As mentioned, you'll want to make at least 8 passes, or until the chemical no longer smokes on your hair. The entire flat ironing process probably took two hours. Although the bottle and videos say it can be washed out next day, I left it in for 36 hours and even tied my hair back loosely at one point without issue (working out with my hair down is a HUGE no-go). when I did finally wash, I used a sulphate- and sodium-free shampoo and deep conditioner. Here's the real magic: When I got out of the shower, I noticed my waves were far more relaxed than normal. When I began blow dry my hair, I was able to use a paddle brush and only two sections of hair to get a perfectly-acceptable, frizz-free, non-poofy, straight 'do...in about 10 minutes! I finished it with a round brush to add some lift. By contrast, a typical blow-out before took 4 layerings of hair, and 45 minutes of blow-drying using a round, ceramic brush- leaving me with "straight" but puffy, frizzed out hair that needed to be finished with a flat-iron before I could leave the house. My hair is now insanely soft and shiny, as well. Bonus! TL;DR- it's a pain to apply, takes forever, and smells bad, but you WILL have great results if you follow the instructions and invest the time. **UPDATE 8.19.17** It's been six months since I applied this product, and it's now completely out of my hair. That said, it stayed in completely for about four months before it started to fade. My stylist was impressed; every time I went for a cut and color, she remarked that my hair was so much easier to work with and style. I'd agree! After the product "wore off," my hair went back to its usual curl pattern; no damage or permanent changes to hair texture. Over all, I'd still rate this five stars; although the treatment didn't last as long as a professional one may have, you can't beat it for the price. Make sure you use gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. I'll be applying it again in the fall- it's too hot and humid for a day spent with a straightener in the summer!

Straightened my hair not a wave curl or frizz in sight after. All I had to do was put it on my hair after I shampooed it and the rest took care of itself. Very much worth the price . I will be buying this again.

I'm from north africa and I have 3c curly and long hair (to my mid-back). I've been doing my keratin treatment on my own for about a year (3-4 times maybe altogether). I first bought the 120 ml version and I was very pleased with the results so I bought the 300 ml. No regrets. Keeps my hair less tangled and fragile. Magically gorgeous curls. I love it. The only thing is that the fumes can be rather aggressive, I had a subconjuctival hemorrhage the morning after (blood vessel in my eye popped). So be careful.

Because I have a personal vendetta against unreasonable pricing, I refuse to pay for any type of beauty service that I can do myself. I live in New York City, and even with a deep discount I was paying $150+ for a single Keratin treatment. So when I realized I could buy professional grade keratin treatment for $60 off Amazon I figured it would be a great thing to add to my at-home beauty arsenal. Even with the good reviews, I didn't expect this treatment to work as well as the ones I'd gotten at the salon (I didn't want to set myself up for failure by having unreasonable expectations). In fact, this treatment worked BETTER than the salon treatments I've had. I have very curly hair, and so my stylist warned me several times that the salon treatment would only eliminate frizz, but not relax my curls very much. Of course she was right; the first salon treatments I had made my hair slightly less curly (i.e. very wavy), but not straight by any means. So, assuming this stuff would be less potent than the salon treatment, I overcompensated by leaving it on for 48, rather than 24 hours (don't worry, the directions specifically say people with very curly hair could should try this). I rinsed and styled normally this morning and my hair is MUCH straighter than (a) it is naturally (b) it was after the salon treatment. Basically the treatment both eliminated my frizz AND relaxed my curls. To be honest, they're a little TOO relaxed for my liking, so I advise you not to underestimate the strength of the treatment! In conclusion... PROS - Better than salon quality (at least for me) - Easy to comb into hair - Pleasant smell (better than salon version) - Wasn't messy - Leaves hair super smooth - Noticeably relaxes/straightens curly hair - One treatment uses about 1/6 of the bottle, so comes out to about $10 per treatment (I have thick, medium length hair) CONS - Doesn't come with instructions (but you can find them online if you search the brand) - Must buy supplies separately (mask, gloves, clarifying shampoo etc.) WARNINGS/RECOMMENDATIONS - Be extremely careful not to drip any solution onto bare skin; I got a few drops on my neck and the skin became red, dry and itchy even though I immediately wiped it off with a wet paper towel (resolved after 2-3 days) - Try to flatiron in a well-ventilated or outdoor area if possible (e.g. porch, patio, balcony) because flat-ironing released copious fumes - Directions recommend a flatiron capable of reaching at least 410 degrees; mine only goes up to 400 and it worked just as well

Let me start with how unbelievably nervous I was to try this! My hair is fine, wavy with some curls and very frizzy and easily damaged. I’ve spent what feels like my lifetime trying to prevent damage with not much luck. When I stumbled onto this product I was sceptical (right up to this moment) It arrived yesterday & I decided to go for it! I Followed the directions exactly. I wore a mask because the fumes are strong when blow drying & straightening. Even with the mask it was still hard on my throat. When it was time to straighten my hair I was so scared ... I didn’t do the full 7 times each piece because it smelt like my hair was burning and I noticed some of my hair (not much) started to cracked off. I left it on over night and into the next day before washing it off. My hair felt hard and tangled while washing it & I was panicking... thinking about how my review was not going to be good. However After washing it I combed it out & decided to test out my results. I let it air-dry and Wow .. it stayed straight & didn’t get big and frizzy lol it’s far from perfect but then again I didn’t put any effort into styling it! First time in my life I could do that 😃 not sure how long this will last but I’m happy so far. Before pic is before applying the product (after using the a hairdryer) second pic was after my first wash (air dried). Giving it a 3 star review only because my hair did crack off in some places & some of my ends now look damaged. But over all it did what I wanted. Smell/Fumes is strong but if you can do it outside or in a well vented spot it should be manageable.
