Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo Original Formula, Anti-Dandruff Treatment for Long-Lasting Relief of Itching and Flaking Scalp as a Result of Psoriasis and Seborrheic Dermatitis, 16 fl. oz

I have been buying T-Gel for years because I have a little bit of psoriasis on the back of my head, so I needed it, but I was having a lot of trouble finding it in the stores around me where I would usually purchase it. So, of course, I turned to Amazon. I thought that it was a little bit more expensive than it would’ve been in the store but I didn’t pay that close of attention because I needed the product either way and I ordered it. Then it arrived, and it is massive! At least compared to what I would typically pick up off of the shelf. Which makes this actually so much cheaper than I would’ve paid in person and I am ecstatic. It is a really nice and effective product for things like psoriasis or buildup like dandruff. It works great! However, it does make my hair a little bit dry if I use it too much and the scent is kind of medicinal. But it is exactly what I have been using for many years and for good reason. It is a great product! And this is a great deal!

I'm familiar with Coal Tar products as I've used a coal tar ointment in years past for psoriasis on arms legs and torso. I've found no shampoo that works well for the scalp though and have tried, Selsun and Head/Shoulders products and others. Cot tar works by reducing skin cell production which in Psoriasis, skin cell production accelerates to product excess skin cells and cause the flaking and redness we all know all to well if we have this condition. After just using the first time, the results were VERY noticeable and scalp itch and general flaking was reduced dramatically to the point where I did not notice it at all. I use this Neutrogena every other day and only need to shampoo once allowing it to remain on my scalp for 2 minutes or more before rinsing. Other users might need to shampoo twice as this is what is directed on the label. The scent is not that bad at all. Coal Tar is by nature a petroleum byproduct and has that similar smell like fuel oil or diesel fuel, although not anywhere as intense as those. Neutrogena does it well here by masking that order as well as possible using a mild fragrance that is pleasing and not overwhelming and does not leave you smelling like you are wearing aftershave or perfume. I'm sold on this and as long as I can use this and it is available, it is the best way to naturally (no Rx!!!) get control and relief of scamp issues due to skin disorders that produce itchy and flaking scalps. 5 Stars all around for this product!

I apparently used this product as a child but didn't remember it until I opened up the bottle. It has a very distinctive smell that you'll never forget. I assume that comes from the active ingredient of tar charcoal. I will just keep my review short and sweet and say that this product was for a time one of the only things that was able to calm my scalp when suddenly every big brand shampoo I owned began causing my head to break out into painful scabs. It doesn't smell particularly beautiful or floral like frilly Herbal Essences shampoos, for example, but I think that might be a good thing, as the frilly floral ones were causing my scalp to react. Even Head & Shoulders with pyrithione zinc was no longer soothing my skin. But I noticed an immediate difference in the way that my scalp felt after the first use of this T-Gel. In one week, everything had dried up and my scalp was healing nicely. You even become fond of its unique, earthy aroma. I continued to use this shampoo for a year or two, long after my scalp healed, as I was afraid of exacerbating another allergic reaction, but truth be told I actually just really liked this shampoo. I believe it recommends using it at least once a week, but I used it as frequently as every other day, or every two days, depending. I noticed this T-Gel also seemed to keep my oils under control, so I didn’t need to wash my hair as often. The only thing is that it is a gel, and lathering it into my long hair created a tangled mess. There is no accompanying cream rinse product that I know of, so I would follow it up with a conditioner applied to my ends, and there was no unpleasant allergic reaction for a time. Unfortunately, my scalp eventually seemed to become sensitized to T/Gel and it was at that point that I did my research and realized it actually contains irritating sulfates, despite being a shampoo for sensitive skin, so I had to switch to a sulfate-free shampoo (Argan Oil of Morocco), which has helped me recently. That being said, I still highly recommend this shampoo to anyone who is having some bad dandruff or allergic reactions but isn’t sure if the problem is sulfates. Unless you’re sure it’s a sulfate problem, this shampoo has a very therapeutic effect and could help you with breakouts. I will also say that it is not the most nutritive shampoo, so when I used it, I took to washing only my scalp and roots with the T/Gel. I’d then let it soak and go in with some other type of shampoo on the ends. I’d do the same with conditioner and avoid getting any products other than the T/Gel on my roots/scalp because for some reason my skin is just so sensitive in recent years. Like I said, if you try the T/Gel and it doesn’t help with your skin, try something sulfate-free.

I was very sceptical in getting this one, but after reading many countless reviews I finally made the decision to get it and I must say that this has solved my problem of dandruff in a day which I was facing for over 10 years now. On the first use, I felt my head was dandruff free and it's been a week now and till now I didn't even have to scratch my head at all and there was no trace of dandruff as well (I used it 3 times a week tho). I use it every 3 days alternate... many people have complained about the smell. I understand that there is a small but trust me it doesn't bother me at all, as I know it is medical treatment so it will have such smell. but the smell can be eliminated with any good smelling conditioner, but highly suggest not to use any other conditioner after you use this shampoo, as you have to allow this shampoo to properly sink into your head. Pro tip: get amazon prime if you live in the U.A.E as it will save you huge cost on shipping once you order something worth 100dhs. I got my shipment 2 weeks before the expected delivery date and I am really happy about that. 2) once you use the shampoo let it stay on your head for 1-2 min and massage your head properly for best effect. Highly recommended for people with dandruff problems.

Había estado batallando algún tiempo con la caspa y no sabía cómo tratarla, así que en la búsqueda de un tratamiento me encontré con esta opción y decidí darle una oportunidad. Ha sido la mejor opción! Me encanta la sensación de limpieza que deja en el cabello, no me deja el cabello reseco o tieso cuando acabo de bañarme como algunos otros shampoos para la caspa. Eso sí, lo uso 2-3 veces por semanas como indica el envase y también 2 veces por semana aplicó una mascarilla para el cabello para mantenerlo suave. El olor es algo fuerte, pero a mí en lo personal no me molesta y hasta me gusta jaja si no te agrada el olor, creo que puedes usar una pequeña cantidad de otro shampoo para que se elimine el olor un poco. Me gustó el precio porque se me hizo económico a comparación de otros que son del mismo precio y contienen menos cantidad.

Cumple con su función, excelente para la dermatitis seborreica grasa o seca y la psoriasis de piel cabelluda. Había intentado varios shampoos dermatológicos y no me hacían tan bien efecto a comparación de este desde la primera aplicación. Como ventaja es que su aplicación se limita a dos veces a la semana, a comparación de otros que requiere de uso diario las primeras semanas para hacer su efecto. En su contraparte, tiene de desventaja que huele fuerte y no agradable pero yo lo uso los días que se que estaré en casa y no me molesta el olor
