Takes practice/experience
Lots of negative reviews here because of people having trouble popping the kernels. Attached is a picture of my second trial run...and I've never popped pop corn this way before. Proof is in the pudding. This stuff works. You just need the right conditions. I tried just a dozen first. Temperature was too low. The kernels took a little bit to start bubbling. Then a couple popped. The rest burnt. I let the oil get hotter and tried a second, larger batch. It bubbled immediately and began popping before I had a lid ready. Most of the second batch popped just fine. Very few unpopped kernels and not burnt. I tried a larger 3rd batch. But maybe there wasn't enough oil? Too cold again? Not very much of it popped. I'd give it 5 stars because it shipped as expected, appears to be fresh/clean, and worked well (under proper conditions) The kernel is smaller than corn. Naturally, it pops to a smaller size. Flavor was pretty neutral. I imagine these could be seasoned in any way that you like. Even added to cereal or something like that.

Mostly burns occasionally pops
The worst part was sorting the popped blossoms from the 75% of the seeds that didn't pop but were starting to burn. I tried 4 times before I tossed the remaining product. It was tasty, when it did pop, but it overwhelmingly didn't pop. My product had an expiration date in 2027 so freshness wasn't the issue. Trying to read a QR code off the ripples of the bag was an adventure.

Does not pop well
Doesn't pop well. I rehdrated the seeds to try and make them pop better- no ho. I just ground the test into flour.

Not Easy But Worth It
Popping Sorghum is not as easy to do as popcorn. I've tried a few different brands of sorghum, and Nate's gave the best results. There are some keys to making this work: You need to hydrate the sorghum a couple hours before popping, the yield increase is significant when you do this. Popping sorghum works better in smaller batches and the best results we got were from using the 8 cup model of the Tasty Hot Air Popcorn Popper. We divided the 1/3 of a cup up into 3rds which worked better than if we tried to pop it all at once. The other key is to understand that it will not all pop, 10-25% unpopped sorghum is expected. The result from doing this was a nice sized portion of really delicious popped sorghum which we drizzled some olive oil over and a little salt. I can't eat popcorn so being able to eat popped sorghum was a really great treat, it tastes and smells a little like popcorn and it has the popcorn crunch (without the popcorn skin/shell). It's not easy to pop sorghum but it is worth it.

totally frustrating
I took the chance that the poor reviews were wrong about this product. My mistake. Trying to get it to pop was frustrating and a failure. The few kernels that cooperated tasted very good. But the percentage that popped was abysmal. I followed the package directions. First, with a pot on the stove. Only a few kernels popped. Next, air popping. The kernals blew all over my kitchen. Nothing popped. Then in the microwave. Maybe 2 dozen popped kernels, when I tried to coax a fw more to pop they burned instead. It is unfortunately a product based on fraud. The lie is that this produces anything close to enough of something edible that resembles popcorn in any way. Spare yourselfthe frustration and find another snack that you can actually eat.

Takes some time patience but good !
I've purchased a bag of this brand already popped and loved it but its pretty expensive for the amount ,so I thought ide give it a go and do it myself ! I first tired to do it in a pot like regular popcorn on the burner with a nice amount of oil ..completely failed ! So how it worked best ? I used a small frying pan and heated the pan first til hot ! then added a tiny bit of oil and a small amount of seeds to see if it would pop. It worked! I kept covered woth the lid and shook , I did lessen the amount of seeds I put in after the video because it was still wasting them so I put half the amount and did many batches .and kept adding oil as I did batches . It didn't work w no oil for me and I also kept it covered and let in air off and on by liting lid after shaking and closing it ..over and over and repeated that until it was poped I still couldn't get evey seed poped but most and a couple batches I got all but 1 or 2.. but yea it is very Time consuming in the end I ended up with close to 4 oz . I dont eat alot at once so it works . I still have alot left in the bag so still a better deal then buying the 4 oz already poped bags . I plan on working on My popping and seeing if i can make it easier .

Air popper recommendations!
I used to make my own popped sorghum in a pot. It’s unreliable and a bit of a pain so I decided to try out air poppers. After much trial and error, I found one that works perfectly: Elite Gourmet EPM330M Automatic... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09226X5TK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share This sorghum pops in it very well, about 90%. The kind I can buy locally does not pop more than 10%. You’re welcome.
