Great motorcycle mittens! Surprising features!
First, I want to say that I did not receive a free pair of these cold weather mittens, nor did I receive any kind of compensation for this review. I was simply buying a pair for use in my winter motorcycle riding and was looking for a pair of mittens for below freezing weather that would give my hands the protection I need at a reasonable price. How surprised I was to find features that I did not notice until I received the mittens. Not only that, I was informed by Amazon that the mittens that I ordered on late Thursday, December the 13th that they would arrive on Sunday, December the 16th. They actually arrived a day earlier on Saturday, December the 15th. Way to go Amazon Prime! Love it! I am surprised that these mittens are not advertised for motorcycle use as they seem to be so well suited to cold weather riding. So, on to the features I like about these affordable mittens especially as how they apply to winter motorcycle riding: Please note that the fourth Amazon picture shows a young man using his cell phone (texting?) with the mitts dangling from his wrists. I see this as a real boon to the motorcycle rider. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to slip a glove under my thigh in order to secure it after removal. I never lost a glove doing this, but it would be very easy to do so. This is especially important with mittens since removing one quickly to access a small button or control is even more likely than with gloves. Having this elastic strap around one’s wrist would assure that the mitt is not lost when it need to be removed for access. What a simple, but ultimately useful touch. Congratulations Tough Outdoors for such an insightful design feature. The next thing I really like is the handy cuff drawstring. It is designed to be easily secured around the riding jacket or coat sleeve by simply pulling on the string with the other hand due to a unique arrangement shown in picture six. Observe the arrangement on the right side of the mitts in the picture. You will see that the drawstring retaining button is secured to the mitt with a strong nylon loop sewn into the mitt. This arrangement allows the string to be pulled tight easily with the opposite hand. Neat! Be aware that these mitts do run small as mentioned in other reviews. I normally order XL gloves or mittens. I do have large hands, but not excessively large. If my hands were any larger, these mitts would not fit. As it is, these mitts fit snugly, but not so much so that they are uncomfortable or would lose insulating effectiveness. My hand measures 9.5” according to the chart illustration (picture #7) for taking a measurement. According to the chart, the XL size covers a hand size of 8.9 to 9.3 inches. I would say that this is quite accurate. So, if you have a hand larger than 9.5”, I would recommend looking for a larger mitten. I have not had the opportunity to ride using the mittens in below freezing temps yet. Neither have I had the occasion to ride in wet conditions. So I cannot comment on their effectiveness in such conditions. But I’m sure I will be able to observe their performance under those conditions before long and will add to this review when I do. The construction of these mittens appears to be very good and I do not anticipate any problems. I will let you know. Having just received them, I am initially very impressed and I hope not to be disappointed. I don't think I will be.

Mitts appear to be well made, but they size small
The sizing on these is a joke. I ordered up a size thinking I could wear a thinner glove inside. Nope, They are a good fit, without much extra room. If your hand circumference is 8", get the medium/large and worry not about the mitts feeling too big. If your hand circumference is 9", get the extra large as the med/large will be too tight. As for build quality, they seem fine. Just got'em. No telling how long they will last. Not super puffy, but enough insulation to keep your hands warm as long as the temps are above zero deg. F

Not for long hands.
Nice warm mittens at least for 90min. in the low 20s F with little wind. The little plastic clip to hook them together when not in use is a little fumblely but for me the big problem is they are too short from the thumb to the end of the fingers. If holding something in my hand my finger tips are pressed tight against the inside of the mitten. If empty handed they are fine. The distance from the crotch of my thumb to the tip of my middle finger is about 6" or 150mm.

Nice, warm mittens
Love these mittens. Warm perfect fit. Love the elastic inside so when I have to take a mitten off, I dont have to look for a place to put it. It is on my wrist.

Great Well-Made Mittens
These are very well made quality mittens. I love the leather palms which is great for gripping my steering wheel while driving. Nylon palmed mittens will not grip steering wheels, or handles. They fit snuggled onto my hands and I can instantly feel the warmth.

Worth Every Penny
Warm, toasty and waterproof. Plus, the leashes are a great added attraction. No more dropping the gloves when I pick up poop. Got a bigger size for my hand warmers for really frigid walks.

Shorter than expected.
The length is shorter than expected. Ordered the Medium-Large based on the reviews. Based on the sizing guide, I could've ordered the Extra-small-Small. Glad I went with the larger size as even the M-L don't quite reach my wrist in length. Not sure how warm they are as my cold fingers didn't get any warmer in the mittens. I do tend to have cold fingers, though. Will buy some hardwarmers to put inside and it should be better. The overall quality of the mittens look good. Like that they have an elastic strap to retain the mitten to my wrist as my other mittens didn't have them and I lost one which was why I needed another pair.

Great but a bit big
I’ve tested a lot of winter gloves and mittens over the years, and these Tough Outdoors mittens are among the best when it comes to keeping your hands warm in extreme cold. Whether I’m on the mountain skiing, snowboarding, or just out in freezing temperatures, these mittens have never let me down. They’re well-insulated, with the SummitLoft insulation truly living up to its promise of warmth. Even in below-freezing temperatures with strong winds and heavy snowfall, my hands stay toasty and comfortable. One of the biggest perks of these mittens is their waterproofing. I’ve worn them in wet snow for hours, and my hands stayed completely dry. The outer shell repels moisture really well, and the inner lining feels soft and cozy. They also have a great wrist strap that helps keep them secure, and the adjustable cinch ensures no snow sneaks in. That said, these do run a little big. If you prefer a snug fit or are between sizes, I’d recommend sizing down. However, the extra room isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if you like to wear glove liners underneath for even more warmth. Overall, these mittens are an excellent choice for anyone who needs serious cold-weather protection. Whether you’re hitting the slopes, shoveling snow, or just braving a frigid winter night, these will keep your hands warm and dry. Highly recommend!

Kept my hands warm and dry however. The tightening strap broke the first day I used them.

There is no change / varyation in temperature warmth when moving your hands briskly as in shoveling snow in cold temperatures compared to any other glove or mitten types which are not cheap. These mittens arrived just in time. I had two other pairs ready to go to finish the job. The best part is the quality, the insides donot come out part way with your hand and no sweat. Best buy for the BUCK!!

My husband’s hands suffer in the cold and he tends to go out for an early morning walk so he loves these mittens very warm

I wore these gloves for a winter hike and they were excellent. Kept my hands really warm in the icy conditions and were really nice and soft. They were slightly large for my hands but was still comfortable. My only problem was that my hands would get too hot and I’d have to remove the gloves and immediately get cold because of the temperature! I think these gloves were way better than big brands and value for my money.
