No issues. TAKE THE CORRECT DOSAGE.
I've always been a highly active individual, as I feel the need to be physically productive. My job is highly physical too. However, in my mid 30s, there was a period of time where I crapped the bed in terms of taking care of myself, mainly eating really badly. Before that, and now, in my early 40s, I engaged in what I consider to be proper eating habits. Not dieting. I don't believe in the sustainability of 'diets'. I do believe in lifestyle changes, and creating long-term habits. There really are no truly healthy 'diets' or shortcuts to having the physical appearance one wants or the physical health one wants. Slow and steady wins the race, in my experience and education. Again, there are no shortcuts to taking care of the body. Now, after my mid-30s, it took a really long time to return to better health and weight loss. But there was some aspect of it that just wouldn't return, it was like my body just wouldn't let go of some of that gained weight. I still ate well, still worked out, had the active job. As for eating well, I stick to lots of vegetables, protein, and VERY occasionally, complex carbs like brown rice. I avoid sugar of all kinds because it makes me very sick and makes me feel almost comatose, even though I am not even pre-diabetic. Even with all this, and a couple of years of diligent attention to well-being, I still needed some kind of extra help. I tried this product; like some other customers, I avoid any kind of non-natural pill approached. I tried some of that stuff when I was much younger and it nearly killed me. This stuff is basically brown algae extract of fucoxanthin. When I first started taking this, there wasn't much info on it. However, I have been using Garden of Life supplements for many years, and since I have not had any problems, I was not too worried about trying this. Now you can find info about fucoxanthin just about everywhere, including a number of articles from the NIH, a government-driven organization. I suggest checking it out. I took this product for nearly a year. Yes it is expensive. For me, the results were well worth the expense. I also worked out as usual, worked my active job, and ate what I consider to be healthy choices. I lost 30lbs over the course of a year. I likely would have lost more had I stayed on it, but I liked the weight I was at--a weight I had not been since graduating (real) bootcamp. I kept the weight off for about 3 years by just continuing my habits. It does indeed take time. I started noticing results in about 1 month. Most (but not all) of the people on this review board that have issues with this product clearly state that they were taking much much more than they should have been; some lady was taking 9 a day?! NO MA'AM. You wouldn't disregard pharmaceutical instructions by increasing usage by 600% would you? I mean unless there is an addiction issue. So then don't do that with this. When a company like Garden of Life says start with one and after a while, build up the three, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Like many homeopathic or natural medicines, the efficacy of it relies on a buildup of concentration in the body which does indeed take time. But once a therapeutic range is achieved, the effect is consistent and tends to work as described. Perhaps for some people this will not work. But I imagine for many people, including myself who had extra weight that would not come off no matter what, without a bit of extra help, this will work when the regimen is followed as indicated. It may take some people longer to see results. Probably at least 30 days. But after that, the weight loss is consistent and pretty great. It may not work if, say, a person continues to eat very poorly or consume junk food and sit on the couch all day--I think the results would be pretty minimal. So--if using this, expect a few weeks before results. Take as instructed; do not take 9 pills a day. Try to eat well along side taking this, and try to stay active. Even many 80 year old women and men can AND DO take walks. Even people who are paralyzed play basketball and many other sports. Be thankful for what you have and use it while you have it. I would use this again, most definitely. Cheers. Be well.

Little Red Helper
I’ve used Fucothin when it originally came out from Garden Of Life. Back around 2008 it was very costly but it seemed to help me with my weight and health. I just tried it again back in July/August while I started a diet to lose 10 lbs, lowering my carbs and gluten, and increasing my protein. Somehow it does seem to reduce my hunger and keeps me from snacking. The weight started to come off at about a pound a week. I ran out in September and I gained a little weight back. So I just bought another value size bottle and put it on auto shipping. It makes my dieting easier and more consistent. I have also recently read up on the heart and circulatory benefits of Fucoxanthin so I plan to continually use it after the diet at a maintenance level. There are so many health benefits from fucoxanthin that it would be too many to list. I consider this an exotic supplement here because it’s not in our diet on the western hemisphere but it’s in the eastern diet with the consumption of seaweed going back thousands of years.

Great with liquid silver for toxic black mold!
I had toxic black mold really bad: foggy brain, fatigue, eye sight getting worse and watery eyes, and a big problem with clutter on my coffee table, kitchen table and counters, my desk, etc. And I know it affects my productivity. After reading on a toxic mold website I tried a combo of a teaspoon of Liquid Silver (under the tongue for 30 seconds then swallow. Looks and tastes similar to water) and this fucco thin. The liquid silver releases toxic mold out of your brain, fat, organs etc and puts it in your bloodstream. However your kidneys don't recognize it and don't clean it out, so fucco-thin binds to fats and toxins so your kidneys clean it out. Otherwise you would be repeatedly reinfecting your body and feel terrible. You need both. I've had zero results with other, cheaper brown seaweed extracts. Good luck and help spread the word.

great weight loss, but creates muscle spasms
*update at bottom* I have been using fucothin for 6 weeks now, along with working out 6 days/wk for 1hour & 1500 calories. I started taking 1 pill at each meal & slowly worked up to 3 at each meal now. I am also taking Garden of Life's Diet360 30 minutes before meals... about 10 days into this regimen I had already dropped a couple pounds but, I noticed consistent muscle spasms/twitches in the back of my right thigh that fire off maybe twice an hour. And a few in my left arm every now & then. Not sure if it's due to spine issues (known to cause muscle spasms) or these products but thought I'd put that out there in case anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Nonetheless, it's not stopping me from taking the products. I am losing about 2-3lbs a week & I think this product is totally boosting my weight loss. I totally trust Garden of Life products & their quality & research. And i firmly believe these products boost your weight loss, which spurs you on to keep sticking it to losing weight. I plan to use these products for 6months... i will update my review if anything new or unusual happens. *UPDATE* started a new batch of fucothin & my muscle spasms are pretty non existent... so I must've had a strong batch. now, before i go to bed i can feel my muscles slightly twitching, but not firing off like the other batch. I did a little research into fucothin & discovered it creates a "shivering" effect on the muscles, which explains the twitching. Weight loss is still successful as noted before, so I won't stop taking this product.

Beware the iodine content, I believe it caused my hypothyroidism
Started on Fucothin mid January 2012 and started at a low dose, slowly increasing up to 3 pills 3x a day as other reviewers and websites suggested for maximum results. After a few weeks, I began to consistently loose 2lbs/week, good for an almost 40 year old obese female. And yes, I was eating fairly well and exercising regularly. Then about 8 weeks into it, I started to notice how cold I was all the time and how tired or fatigued I felt. I was having other bowel and female issues too and I was struggling to reach those 2lbs a week of weight loss. So I went to a doctor around 12 weeks who ordered some blood tests, gave me a physical and concluded that I had hypothyroidism - something for which I have been regularly tested throughout my life and never had (including as recently as 1.5 years prior to starting fucothin). Not only did I have thyroid levels out of whack, but my cholesterol had shot up 20 points - even though I had lost 10% of my body weight, was eating better than ever and don't usually have cholesterol concerns either (have cholesterol screenings done every 6 months). He ordered more tests and I did more research on Fucothin. It was concluded that my iodine levels were too high, probably as a result of Fucothin as that was the only major change to my diet. And while an iodine deficiency can cause hypothroidism, the opposite is true as well and too much iodine can lead to Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease which impacts the thyroid and causes hypothyroidism. According to one website, Fucothin contains "Trace amounts [of iodine], less than 5% of the RDI per softgel." Since I was taking 9 softgels a day, I was consuming at least 45% of my RDI of iodine from fucothin alone, coupled with the milk, eggs, seafood and iodized salt I used, I was way over the RDI. So a few days ago I stopped Fucothin completely and although I was warned that it might take a few weeks or several months for my thyroid to recover (if it even does), I already feel better. Admittedly, the bottle says to take only 3 softgels a day (15% or less RDI of iodine), but many reviewers, bodybuilding websites, the livestrong website, etc. recommend a dosage of 9 a day. So at 3 a day, and limiting eggs, seafood, dairy, etc., one probably is not at a high risk of iodine excess, but the question is, is that dosage enough to loose weight? Regardless, this is not worth taking mindlessly and damaging your body or ruining your thyroid (which would make it next to impossible to loose weight), so please, whoever out there is taking this, please get your thyroid, iodine, cholesterol and blood levels checked before taking this product and monitor throughout. Everybody processes food and supplements differently, so the key here is to record your baseline blood chemistry and then monitor (while also managing your iodine intake accordingly) to stay safe so that you will reap the rewards of this product and not hurt yourself, as I believe I did, in the process.

These WILL work. Just be patient and follow the directions
These are amazing. Once I turned 30, I noticed that my always flat stomach started having a tiny little "something". I was actually on the hunt for antioxidant supplements when I came across the ingredient fucoxanthinin. I then looked into supplements that included it and came across these. I was diligent for the first few weeks. I took 2, sometimes 3 pills per day (per the instructions). I always spaced them out. After 3-4 weeks? I started noticing differences. You HAVE to be patient. Read the literature, the weight loss isnt instantaneous but it is proven. I love them because they arent a stimulant and because they also function as an antioxidant. Win-win! Now I only take 1 a day, sometimes everyother day and ive had absolutely no issues gaining the weight back. Dont take 2 before bed. Not because they keep you awake (they don't, they arent a stimulant) but the thermogenesis caused me to get too hot. I dont like sleeping without covers so it was a whole ordeal. You probably shouldnt take 2 at once anyway so just learn from my mistake and you'll be fine. I should say that I dont notice any temperature change when I just take 1. The negative side effect... I work out less because I dont feel like I have to (but i know that I should). These were life changing. I do want to add, if you are looking to lose 20+ lbs, I cant speak to you situation. I only had 5 to get rid of. You should read the studies linked to fucoxanthin (I'm a health nerd so I did before consuming). I couldnt find anything detrimental and another positive, they followed the study participants for 3-4 months post trial and they hadn't gained the weight back. If you are scouring the internet for weight loss supplements, stop here. These are the safest that I've ever seen and they work.

Yes...it does work
I am not the kind to stop and write a review, but I felt this was a warranted case. Over the course of 6 years or so now I have steadily gained pounds until I fall into the "obese" category. For whatever reasons, stress, emotions...whatever, I went from a size 5 to a size 12-14. I am active, and the weight has been a problem. I had searched several alternatives in a weight loss supplement and found this item at a Whole Foods Store. I purchased my first bottle there and have been taking Fucothin for about 5 months. (For my backstory you need to know this)For Christmas of 09(more like January 10) I purchased a Wii for my mom as a gift. She uses it for the step programs and together we track our weight goals. In honestly I hadn't even gotten on it in several months(since about the time I started Fucothin), summer for me means outdoor activities. To make this long story shorter, I got on the Wii and found to my pleasant surprise that I have lost over 20 lbs over the course of these 4-5 months. Thats not alot each month but I am satisfied since that falls under healthy weight loss. My diet has always been fairly healthy except for the coffee/soda intake. I haven't had any issues with an odor in my urine, however even though I drink coffee and soda I also drink lots of water to keep myself hydrated. I am taking 8 capsules once a day, since I don't have time to space them out. I have no jitters, no digestive issues, and no other effects other than the slow steady weight loss. My physical exam this year came out clean with great results other than the weight that I am working on. I am sure everyone gets different results from this product but these are mine.
