Going to the Zoo: A Classic Musical Picture Book About Lively Zoo Animals for Kids (Ages 4-8)

Love this song book. My granddaughter loves the rhythm of the song. She dances when we are reading it! We sing it all the time!

I am a preschool music teacher and I love to use books in my classes with my 2-5 year olds. This is a fun book that we sing together- the children join in on each chorus and I sing the verses. We discuss the various animals, what they are doing in the book, and other things they might do. The children love it!

I lov this book and use it every year at story hours for kids ages 2 and up and we have a great time singing and acting out the book. I even sing it with the one year olds--we just act out the animals as we sing the song! My favorite memories of this book/song are of my then 2 year old daughter singing "Zoo,zoo, zoo!" in the back of the car whenever she wanted us to sing this together! If you don't know the tune for this, you can find it on the Peter,Paul and Mary album "Peter Paul and Mommy". In fact, if you look it up here at Amazon you can hear a clip of the song. Sadly, the Tom Paxton recording is out of print. And don't worry about your voice quality--kids just love it when you sing with them!

I use this book as the basis for playing the song on guitar with my Kindergarten and first grade classes, as we march around the room. By now we no longer view the book, but the pictures helped the children imagine and memorize which animal we visited in our trip to the zoo. For my kids (I teach in a poor urban district with no nearby zoo), this may be their only trip to a zoo!

This has always been a personal favorite of mine. I brought to my child care Centre and the children love singing along to this book! One of our faves for sure.

I already knew part of this song Daddy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow but there are lots of extra verses. I bought it for my nursery and the children are captivated by it. Even the 2 year olds are enchanted and even though the book is quite long it holds their attention because it is a song. The pictures are lovely too, altogether a book well worth having and should last as it is a hard cover with a jacket.

I read/sing this almost everyday in my classroom. My toddlers love it!
