Quick and delicious on its own, it's more nutritious, and a hearty substitute for rice or pasta. I've eaten it with Asian, Indian, and other sauces. Hot or cold; add half a bag to salads

Tasty. Very handy!
Delicious high quality product. Great that it’s shelf stable. I keep a few of these on hand at all times. And it’s not just good as a side dish. I often use them to bulk up other recipes. My fav is a quick soup: Simmer one packet with a quart of chicken stock, a jar of Jovial diced tomatoes, a pinch of dried thyme or basil, and some frozen veg or ready to use fresh produce. Toss in a handful of leftover chopped poultry or other meat to make it even better. Bon appétit!

Delicious, good quality, nutritious filling ready meal or base for a grain bowl, soup, stew or salad
Once a week I make a wonderful dinner salad for one with half pouch of 365 by Whole Foods Market, Barley & Green Lentils, that I microwave for 45 seconds on high before adding it to 4 ounces of chopped Little Leaf Farms Baby Crispy Green Leaf Lettuce, and then pouring 2 tablespoons (29g) or 1 serving of BRIANNAS Home Style Blush Wine Vinaigrette Dressing over it. I love it and do not grow tired of it. It is like a treat, but it is really quite satisfying as a complete meal. I miss it when I can not have it. I pair it with a slice of toasted Deland Bakery Oatmeal Bread or 365 By Whole Foods Market Organic Sprouted Wheat, Honey & Oat Sandwich Bread and dinner for one is served. It is easy to put together, little to no cleanup afterwards, and tastes like heaven to me. That is a quartet of ingredients for you. I store the leftover half of the pouch in a container in the freezer for next time and thaw it in the refrigerator the day before making the salad again.

Very good. Love all the ingredients. Precooked and ready to eat. Nice addition to working pantry and even long term pantry. Can eat any time with little fuss. As a shelf stable food, it will have a lot of sodium, but it also has a lot of potassium which totally helps balance it out. Lots of fiber and protein. 1 pouch is 1 serving. Price is something I dont rate on, but I do comment. Not a daily eat, but for what it is I think a few bucks for a healthy meal is reasonable, especially when wanting total convenience. I will likely buy more as I do like having this on hand. Just love lentils and barley-- two of my favorites. I probably wouldnt buy it at this price for just rice, but for interesting combos that I normally dont see? sure, why not. I like the taste, texture. I have eaten it paired with some canned salmon and slices of avocado. Works nicely as base to "bowl" meals.

WHY FIVE STARS?
PROS: FIRST, INGREDIENTS! HOW many packaged foods have just a handful of ingredients and they're CLEAN ingredients. I KNOW there is salt in it, BUT this isn't really that high for me as I generally make TWO meals out of one pouch EASILY, so it is lunch and dinner (I plop half on Pita bread for lunch, maybe mix in some veggies and make a bowl for dinner). For breakfast, I have oatmeal most days, some days a smoothie, neither of which is high is salt. SO UNLESS you have a LOT of salt with your other meals, this really isn't bad re sodium (UNLESS of course you're on a sodium-restricted diet). TASTE - I - LOVE-THIS! How they made barley and lentils so good with so few ingredients, well done! Sometimes I may add a touch of a condiment or spice to change it up, but it's pretty freaking good on it's own. HEALTHY - LOVE to eat healthy, HATE to shop for ingredients and cook. I like FAST, HEALTHY, EASY and AFFORDABLE. WHICH brings me to the next point....COST. COST - Considering I easily get two meals from it, GREAT price to eat WELL. CONS - Like I mentioned, and others have as well, YES, there is SALT, but unless you're on a very salt restricted diet or eat a lot of other salty foods during the day, this is a good staple to keep in the house as a base for ALL kinds of veggie bowls or to eat with Pita or Naan bread. I also wish the ingredients were ORGANIC as in TRUROOTS products, that I also have as a staple. Because of their organic ingredients, and a little better price point on SOME of their options, I tend to buy more of TRUROOTS than I do of 365. BUT I LOVE BARLEY and I don't always want brown rice in the mix, so this BARLEY and LENTIL IS AN ABSOLUTE FAV!
