My Brain Chemistry was toast until. . .
It was 'suggested' -by a locally renowned psychiatrist- that I take NAC many years ago when I was suffering depression after a long term battle with Opioids and Alcoholism, I had tried every antidepressant medication that he and other Doctors I had seen had in their arsenal. It took some time into my recovery before I actually attempted to remember what it was called, (Yes I was that bad) I even had to call the Doc's office -to no avail- who it turned out had since retired, I did eventually, through my own research come across the name of this wonderful gem of a supplement and EUREKA!! It all came flooding back! I 'flew' to the local health food store (such was my desperation) and paid out the wazoo for some in capsule form and was shocked at how much of a difference it made. There are reviews here abound where you can read about the chemical mechanics of what it is/does so I'll stick with the results: It made a HUGE difference to how I feel! No more slumping around the house with a lack of motivation, alternatively feeling sorry for myself and hating myself for the pain I've caused my loved ones in my disease; I had an elevated spirit, fantastic mood and energy galore! That was many years ago, and I have kept this in my repertoire of healthy habits ever since and have never had a 'bad day' of depression since. It got expensive though and with all those fillers in the capsules you never know what you're getting so I sought out the actual NAC by itself which is how I came to this company, I buy all my supplements from them now and have thus far never been disappointed. My wife of 20 years who has been on this journey with me, is also in recovery, it was she in fact who got me to first explore the necessity of supplementing our diets with what should normally be in foods we eat but because of the worlds imperfection, our damaged eco-system and a ton of other factors far too numerous to write in here, plants no longer contain the nutrients sufficient for us nor do animals who eat plants etc etc et cetera, well SHE -back to my wife- swears by NAC too, never misses a day taking it, so you can imagine it gets expensive and we ARE NOT rich, far from it, but we figure as should you that having any success in life starts with your health so in our search for the best bang for our buck, quality product at a great price brought us to Bulk Supplements, they have been great to us since we started buying their product; I encourage you to at least consider going with Amazon Prime too if you're in a hurry for your stuff, it didn't take us long to tally up the cost of shipping versus the membership fee and while it does leave something to be desired the video and music subscriptions -and a few other things- are an added bonus. Try NAC it will work wonders for you unless you are a very rare specimen with perfect body/brain chemistry which I find, frankly, highly unlikely...

Taste awful
Too early to know if it works but make sure you dilute. I decided to put powder directly in my mouth and it was terrible. Very tart/sour with a citrus aftertaste. Made my tongue actually numb

Love the pureness of BulkSupplements
Love the pureness of BulkSupplements. NAC smells pretty strong but I don't notice the taste as I mix it with my powdered vit C which seems to hide any flavors. Here's some info on NAC. Again, I love the BulkSupplements. N-ACETYL CYSTEINE Overview Information N-acetyl cysteine comes from the amino acid L-cysteine. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. N-acetyl cysteine has many uses as medicine. N-acetyl cysteine is used to counteract acetaminophen (Tylenol) and carbon monoxide poisoning. It is also used for chest pain (unstable angina), bile duct blockage in infants, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease), Alzheimer’s disease, allergic reactions to the anti-seizure drug phenytoin (Dilantin), and an eye infection called keratoconjunctivitis. It is also used for reducing levels of a type of cholesterol called lipoprotein (a), homocysteine levels (a possible risk factor for heart disease) and the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with serious kidney disease. Some people use N-acetyl cysteine for chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), hay fever, a lung condition called fibrosing alveolitis, head and neck cancer, and lung cancer. It is also used for treating some forms of epilepsy; ear infections; complications of kidney dialysis; chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); an autoimmune disorder called Sjogren’s syndrome; preventing sports injury complications; radiation treatment; increasing immunity to flu and H1N1 (swine) flu; and for detoxifying heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and cadmium. N-acetyl cysteine is also used for preventing alcoholic liver damage; for protecting against environmental pollutants including carbon monoxide, chloroform, urethanes and certain herbicides; for reducing toxicity of ifosfamide and doxorubicin, drugs that are used for cancer treatment; as a hangover remedy; for preventing kidney damage due to certain X-ray dyes; and for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Healthcare providers give N-acetyl cysteine intravenously (by IV) for acetaminophen overdose, acrylonitrile poisoning, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease), kidney failure in the presence of liver disease (hepatorenal syndrome), chest pain in combination with nitroglycerin, heart attack in combination with nitroglycerin and streptokinase, and for helping to prevent multi-organ failure leading to death. N-acetyl cysteine is sometimes inhaled (breathed into the lungs) or delivered through a tube in the throat to treat certain lung disorders such as pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and others. How does it work? N-acetyl cysteine treats acetaminophen (Tylenol) poisoning by binding the poisonous forms of acetaminophen that are formed in the liver. It is also an antioxidant, so it may play a role in preventing cancer.

Stir in liquid and drink while still spinning as it sinks to the bottom when it stops.
My aching smokers lungs have felt better since I've been taking it. Not certain if it's because of the Nac. The Taste is horrible. It has two distinct tastes to it. One is very much like biting into a vitamin C tab and the other is sulfur. I add a sugar substitute allulose and monk fruit as well as barley grass juice make the taste more palatable. Soon after I rinse with mouthwash. Otherwise the sulfur taste will linger. You must stir It and drink it while the liquid is still spinning because the NAC crystals sink right to the bottom. You can purchase capsules and fill them yourself.

Helps with stress, immune system, cravings, etc.
The taste is horrendous, although once you get it down, it’s not so bad. The smell alone will provoke you to sneeze. But this stuff is great. Worth the trouble. Has been noticeably helpful in decreasing stress levels and eases breathing. Supports general immune system functioning. Has helped with PTSD symptoms and overall emotional regulation. I’ve noticed it’s helped me be way less reactive, without a sedated, robotic effect. May cause you to poop or even have diarrhea, so try to take this with food. I chase it with water, but you could mix it into a smoothie or yogurt, etc. It’s also easy to develop a tolerance over time, so skip a day, if need be. Helps with any cravings, nervousness, anxiety, etc. I take this along with magnesium oil and zinc, among other supplements. Consult doctor if on medications, including chemo...Overall, I love this powder and plan to keep it handy.

Uplifted my mood and focus for days, then the side effects started
When I first started taking this, it miraculously uplifted my mood and gave me exacting focus. But then after taking it for about a week each day consistently, I noticed the benefits were lessening, and the side effects were rising up. The side effects I started to experience were a lower mood, fatigue lethargy, and dare I say it the occasional diarrhea. I was spending each day just blah and lethargic and couldn't figure out what was causing that. Caffeine wasn't even doing anything. I then started to realize it was this NAC stuff. I looked it up and sure enough side effects are fatigue (and diarrhea). Naturally, I'm always the one that gets the side effects when something is miraculously helping other people. I should add that I wasn't even taking the full dose, but just a little bit several times a day. I then reduced it to twice a day, then once a day. Now I'm just keeping the bag handy and just taking it one dose like once a week or something. My body must not need it if it's rejecting it. I'm big on fitness, health, nutrition, exercise, so I'm always taking something. I'm used to powdered supplements having an unpleasant taste, but the complaints people are making about this smell and taste of this NAC are true. Usually I think people are overreacting when they complain about a taste, but in this case they are ALL right. When you open the bag, it's like someone took a fart in your face. Then you brace yourself as you shoot it back with some water. The effects happen right away. Like I said, the effects were positive for me for a few days, but then I think I needed to stop as the side effects started coming around. If you need NAC, I might recommend the capsules. The rancid smell of this stuff is NORMAL by the way. Unfortunately, it's just supposed to smell like that if it's good I read.
