Just a great value for a beginner guitar
I bought this guitar because I thought that learning the guitar would be a good activity to keep busy during our coronavirus quarantine. I did a lot of research to determine the best way to spend a small amount of money to see if this was something that I would enjoy. I ordered the "old violin sunburst" and received it a few weeks ago. The guitar is beautiful. It looks REALLY nice in person and those that have seen it always comment on how attractive it is. Once tuned, the guitar has remained in tune without much, if any adjustment. The fit and finish appear to be flawless. Everything works the way it should. All the switches and knobs are responsive and feel like they are of high quality. The guitar sounds great, all the frets appear to be cut well and the strings ring properly at every position. I have an old amp that I use and all the pickups work and sound great to my ear. I have no complaints at all. Without scouring garage sales for a rare mint condition used guitar at a killer price, I cannot imagine getting more for your money than this. It does not feel like something marketed to beginners or children or casual players at all. My considerable research led me to conclude that Yamaha guitars at this price-point are considerably better than those put out by the bigger "guitar brands" for similar prices. Having purchased and used this guitar, I see no reason to argue with that conclusion. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nice sound, solidly made...=GREAT GUITAR
Great guitar. I really love the aggressive look and feel of the Yamaha. There is also a nice sound quality there. I love the feel, although it was a little heavier than I expected. Overall, I'm pleased with this guitar. It doesn't feel cheap or seem like its made from cheap material. Another great Yamaha instrument. It does, however, have a more mature voice, compared to some other guitars. Each electric guitar has a special sound. This guitar is more mature and balanced, while other guitars, like Fenders or Gibson's, have a louder more playful sound. It really depends on your preference. I got this guitar because I'm really into 80's rock and metal. This is a great buy for 180. However, a quick warning, you're gonna need an amplifier, a guitar chord, a strap, and some picks. I had some speakers and an audio adapter already, but I had to buy a stand, picks, and adapter, a guitar cord, and a strap. Just a warning. I would not recommend getting the package with an amplifier and cord, as they are usually very cheap. A good place to get guitar lessons for free is justinguitar.com. Also, there is a package with a manual in it. Look very carefully, because there is a major component for the guitar in it. It makes the sound go up and down. Simply screw it on, there is a hole on the guitar body, and while playing, rest it on the inside of your elbow, pushing up and releasing to make a WHEE-WOWHH-WHEE sort of sound. Also, if you want it to sound like a stage guitar with rough sounds, buy a distortion pedal. It should plug into a stereo receiver/amplifier.

This is a fantastic deal if you are looking for a "big boy" guitar at a fantistic price.
First let me say I am no stranger to guitars. I own over 20 different ones. I have $150-$2500 versions from all the best brands. I have yet to own a Yamaha Pacifica. I have the "other" brand which includes a Tele, Strat, and a Jazzmaster. The package was packed really, really, well. No damage of any kind from the delivery process. Right out of the box I could see this is a quality product. Fit and finish is a big "WOW." It was almost perfectly in tune. I only needed to tweek each string about a half pitch to be right on. I got the "old violin" finish and it is a real looker. Tone is as good or better than most of my other guitars. Playability and sound is just what I like. I would put this in my top five favorite guitars. I could play this guitar with any other brand and they would like mine a lot. I am going to leave the OEM strings on as they are not bad. In a month or so I will change them out for some upgrades. The rest, I will leave everything OEM. Don't miss out on this one. It is a STEAL for the money.

Excellent. Defo recommend for beginners but base film is peeling which isn’t supposed to happen.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: It really is a GORGEOUS color and guitar. I have had no technical problems with it so far. I’ve had it for a little under a week. The amp works well and the guitar plays well. I am just a beginner but it is a great beginner guitar for the price. definitely has some things wrong that i’m not seeing as a beginner but for me it’s working fine. The only thing is the plastic film on the base is peeling off as per the first picture. I’m careful not to peel it or pick at it but I’m just a little disappointed about that is all. It is a good price point so I understand that the quality is 100% great. But the guitar should not be peeling like this on the 4th day of me owning it. Beginners: Perfect set up for a beginner. Has an amp and cables and picks. Color: Beautiful gorgeous metallic red. It’s so pretty I can’t even describe it.

Great guitar!
This is one great guitar! As a beginner, I cannot claim to know much about guitars, but I did do my research. Yamaha make great musical instruments and this guitar is recommended as a great beginner guitar by several places, including About. The package has everything you need to get started. THE GOOD: The guitar - One great instrument. The build feels solid and not at all cheap. The strings are close the the fret board which is great. The tuners are very smooth and feel good. The guitar also has 3 pickups and 5 positions which allow you to change up the sound of he guitar from rock to jazz. Basically, this is a really good guitar. And it has two nobs for volume and tone. The Amplifier - This is a good beginner amplifier. It is small and has 15 watts. It has two channels: Clean and Dirty. Plenty nobs for us beginners to play with: gain, dirty volume, clean volume, treble, middle, bass. Also has a quarter inch headphone jack. Despite what majority might think, 15 watts is enough for just about anything you'll be doing. The 15 watts allows you to turn up the gain all the way up and keep the volume down and still have it sound good. The electric tuner - a nice little add-on for beginners. The DVD - great place as any to start. Goes over the basics and teaches several chords. Other - comes with extra strings :) THE BAD: The guitar - none at all. The Amp - the only bad thing with it (for what it is), is that the headphones jack is a 1/4 inch jack so most of us with 3.5mm standard headphone will either need to get new headphones or adapter to use it. But it is no big deal in my opinion. The Guitar Cable - it is one cheap cable. Mine broke after 4 days. I also noticed that in the dvd that was provided, the instructor didn't use the cable that was provided but a monster cable, which I found to be funny. You can get a monster cable for pretty cheap here on Amazon, so again, nothing too serious. Order one when you order the guitar so you don't have to wait like I do. The Guitar Strap - again pretty cheap. It is like one of those run of the mill nylon straps that you see. I am going to invest in a better one but this one will do for most. On a side note, and this is with all guitars. Invest in peg locks. They will prevent the strap from coming off the pegs on the guitar. When putting on my guitar the strap slipped off the peg, but luckily I was holding the guitar very firmly. Again, this is true for all guitars and not just this one. Bottom line: Great guitar, great package, great buy. I am happy with it.

good
great guitar, setup out of the box was decent. there were a couple reviews about "scratches on the guitar" but it's just a plastic wrap that is meant to be there. good versatility for different sounds.

Pretty good, but my strings broke
I love the guitar. It’s very nice. It’s built well, but there is some problems. Don’t know if it’s the way I’m playing, but the E string has broken twice. The sound is good. The amp is good high-quality would recommend but the strings do kind of feel a little cheap out of the box. Don’t know how to explain it.
