The Art of Mandala: Adult Coloring Book Featuring Beautiful Mandalas Designed to Soothe the Soul Review: Detailed Design - REASON FOR PURCHASE: As an adult coloring book for relaxation PROS: * Detailed pictures * Variety of designs * Size of pictures - not too big * White space - picture do not go to the edge of page * Price CONS: * Book is smaller than I thought it'd be. Most coloring books are 8.5" X 11". This is 8.5" X 8.5". OVERALL: I'm happy with this purchase. Review: Lovely! - I have completed 5 copies of Book 2 so I thought I would move back to Book 1. I was somewhat apprehensive that the change in "levels" would result in elementary or boring mandalas. No worries! These designs are, if anything, more intricate. I am using a variety of pens on the designs, some needing fine tips. All of the designs so far have turned into some of my favorite mandala exercises. I enjoy especially the borders Hamilton provides as well as the careful use of black accents. The paper is thin, but I don't mind using a back sheet and protection between finished and unfinished drawings. Jason Hamilton gives me, an experienced coloring freak, a lot of top-notch fun with these books. I also like the size of these books, not so unwieldy as others I have used by other publishers.

Gorgeous designs for all levels!
The mandala designs in this book are beyond amazing! I am stunned that it's priced as low as it is. I have never purchased a duplicate book, as I have quite the collection, but this is a must! Yeah, I could scan and save the pics to print myself before coloring them, but I will absolutely be buying this again and supporting the artist. I am so in love!! Gorgeous designs for beginners, intermediate, AND advanced color-ers! Some pictures do have tiny details so I'd reccomend having ultra-fine tip pens/markers.

It's ok. Good for the price but you'll need your reading glasses for some areas.
Nice designs but don't care for the paper, smooth but slightly too thin for my taste. However, for the price it works. You will need a sheet behind the page of you use alcohol markers. I like the square pages printed on one side only. Another thing to mention is the designs vary in size so much it limits use of markers only, or at least some broader tipped markers. Luckily I purchased with a great new set of glitter pens to use in the small areas that even a brush tip Copic is nearly too wide. (Reviewed pens should you want to know type purchased.) I find it rather undesirable to have to change medium within same design due to such a wide variance in areas. This limits color choices from having to coordinate color selection/medium for tiny detail in center to outer larger areas. Careful planning required to avoid wasteful use of pen ink in large areas. I have several incomplete pages due to these issues as they will require table and reading glasses to stay in the lines. I would not purchase again but would recommend for the price if you just need another coloring fix on the cheap.

Fantastic mandalas... HORRIBLE paper
This is the third time I have purchased this book because I love the designs but the paper is horrible. This time it is like nothing more than cheap copy paper. I used brush tip and fine point markers and the paper was buckling. I can’t imagine how it will be with alcohol markers. I almost afraid to try. This is SO disappointing. It should be fine for pencils and if you can handle the poor quality of paper, I do still highly recommend this book. The mandalas are well done with a variety of designs and levels. I hope at some point the paper will be improved because this is not fair to the artist or his customers.

FABULOUS MANDALA PATTERNS TO COLOR
I have several coloring books by other artists but when I started coloring in Jason's book, I felt the other books were a primer for this one. It is challenging but I love that! Some of the designs are extremely intricate and I love those the best. I love gel pens so I used them in this book. As I began to color, I truly felt inspired to color in a manner that highlighted the shapes (sometimes hidden) and let the picture "speak" to me as it unfolded. I have not been disappointed in any of my colorings in this book. I love it. Buy it! You'll be glad you did. I just received Vol. 2 and can't wait to begin. It has some flowers in it that I also love. Happiness defined...during the pandemic!

Good design but a bit too large - left (binding) edge cut into disigns
Artwork was clear, detailed and a challenge However the designs were too large for the page and even with caution extracting each page with a sharp blade, at least 3/4 of the designs were damaged on the binding side. Looking forward to trying one of this companies other books.

Beautiful
Wonderful pictures for my mom to color and they get more difficult the farther in the book you get.
