TERRIBLE Customer Service. TERRIBLE!!! **Amended 03/15/2019
I would very much like to give this heated mattress pad 5 stars but, given the horrific lack of decent customer service, it’s impossible to do so.I will say that the mattress itself is very good in that it heats the body from shoulders down to feet, no matter how tall or petite you may be. It’s very easy to use (how hard can it be to put a mattress pad on, plug it in??) and has lasted 17 months. Well, we’ve had it 17 months but have only used in late Fall until early Spring here in the Bay Area of Northern California. So it’s actually only been in use for a total of 10 months. We’ve had 3 different brands of heated mattress pads and this one died earlier than the other 2 brands which lasted about 15 months in terms of total use.Although it keeps you nice and cozy and has many heat settings I cannot in good conscience recommend this product because the customer service is STUNNINGLY awful. I’m STILL on hold, having started this call at 0844 this morning. The menu option is awful too, by the way, in that it doesn’t respond well to voice recognition. Something designed in one of the Circles of Hell. It is now 0936 and I suspect I’ll be a senior citizen by the time this call gets answered. It would seem that they have one person to answer all of the incoming calls. Maybe 2 people who are a tag team designed to make customers hang up in frustration. I think the one or two reps have by now gone to breakfast, they’re on a lengthy break and will return for 15 minutes at which time they’ll go to lunch.ATTN SUNBEAM: I’M STILL WAITING!!!At this point I don’t care if this mattress pad not only keeps me toasty warm, gets up off the bed and does my laundry, washes dishes AND gets me dressed in the morning, I will NEVER buy a Sunbeam product again. NEVVVERRRR!!!My personal philosophy is that it doesn’t matter how good a product or service seems to be if the company can’t deliver outstanding or, at this point, even reasonably good customer service. HUGE FAIL here. HUGE!Last but not least, I think I deserve a medal of some kind as I’m the one in our household who has been tortured by making this call since hubby just refuses to do so. I should re-read “Codependent No More”. Seriously.0956 the call has been answered!Do Not Waste Your Money. Good Luck!*****************************************************NOTE - CUSTOMER SERVICE REVIEW AMENDED!**Okay, here's the update...after all the endless waiting I finally got through to a human being who tried very hard to understand the problem and work out a solution. Honestly, I can't tell whether he didn't understand what I was saying initially or if the reps for this company are taught to just continue to repeat everything the customer says. Every. Single. Thing. At least twice. Dunno but will try to give benefit of the doubt and think they're told to continuously repeat. A tad annoying, imho.At any rate, I explained the problem, he asked me to take a photo of the label and send an attachment along with my response to an email that he sent during the phone call. Easy-peasy and done. The label had the model number and some other info he/they needed so sending it along was a reasonable request. There's a two year warranty on the mattress pad and we were still within the two years.I didn't have to return the mattress pad (unlike Biddeford) nor did I have to wait almost 6 weeks (as with Biddeford!) to get a replacement sent back to me. Got an email the very next day thanking me for my response to their email and telling me the update on shipment would be provided soon in a separate email. I thought, "Oh boy, here it comes. It'll take WEEKS to be replaced." (this because another reviewer had said their replacement shipping either didn't come through or there was a problem somewhere in the process). But happily, nup. The next business day I received another email letting me know the new, replacement mattress pad was on it's way, complete with tracking number. WOW! So here we are, about 5 days later, new heated mattress pad on the bed and we're all set.I'm very happy with the speed and ease with which they replaced the defective pad and with the communication via email to address the problem and solution. I will only give 4 stars though because that wait time for somebody to answer (after the time spent in menu Hell) was just atrocious and really inexcusable. All in all I think it's a pretty good product and I'm hopeful this mattress pad lasts longer in actual use than the last one. Will I buy another heated mattress pad from them in the future? Not sure yet, it depends how long this replacement lasts. However, they did their best to fix the problem and to be fair, they did a GREAT job replacing the defective one really quickly which my husband and I both appreciate very much. All in all, I think you'll be happy with the heated mattress pad itself but if you have to contact customer service you may want to do so either by email initially (I don't really recommend that option) or have a beverage of your choice, a meal and/or a snack handy should you decide to call.

Has a few drawbacks
I've always used electric blankets so, when my Sunbeam gave up the ghost, I went searching for a replacement. Let me preface this with the disclaimer that I am very hard on electric blankets. Therefore, they require replacement on a regular basis. I like a bedspread or quilt on my bed & this configuration is a no-no in the electric blanket world as one is not supposed to have anything on top of them. Well, I do so I live with the side-effect of having to replace them every couple of years. During my research, I discovered heated mattress pads which did not require that nothing could be on top...obviously, as there would be a human body on it. The reviews were a bit intimidating because of the frequent complaints about the plug-in/power source and/or reports of feeling the wires in the pad. OK, here's my take: The main purpose of any bed heater for me is the "pre-warm". I HATE climbing into a cold bed any time of the year. After the pre-heat, when I go to bed, I turn it down to the lowest setting or, depending on room conditions, often I turn it off entirely. This pad heats things up nicely as far as temperature but it has one giant flaw...there are no wires toward the foot of the pad to heat the area where your feet go. BIG design flaw!! Also, for reasons I can't explain, unlike an electric blanket, it does not heat the upper sheet. This I can't figure out but it is what it is. As far as feeling the wires in the pad, I've had no issue there. Also, the power source connection is not nearly as huge or intrusive as others have described it & it's a total non-issue for me. Having toasty warm feet when I climb into bed is a pretty big deal for me so the 3 stars reflect my disappointment in this area. In my mind, & for my purposes, the old, standard electric blanket works better.

no more cold feet!
Unlike older heating blankets, you can barely feel the wires running through this pad. Also, heat rises, so this makes more sense. One of the best winter purchases I've ever made. This saves a lot of gas money by warming up the bed rather than the whole bedroom zone of the house to make sleeping comfy. If you turn it on 10 mins before you get in, it's way cozier than getting into a cold bed and waiting for it to warm up with you're under the covers. Saves me from my wife putting her cold feet on me!The only thing that would make it perfect would be if there was a timer button. But, if you turn it off when you get in and settled, it'll stay warm with you under the covers.

Lowest setting is too much at times.
I need straps to keep it fitted to the matteress. Also, I can feel the wires under me. My biggest observation is that it gets too hot for me even at the lowest setting. I will turn it up to medium or 5 setting to warm the bed before I retire, but then I have to turn it down to low once in bed and even that can be too hot at times. I sleep with only half a cover on or just a sheet on my upper body and a blanket on my legs. My thermostat for the home furnace is set at 62 degrees at night.I owned a heated mattress cover before that had half the wires for the upper body than for the lower body. I wish I could find that one again. I never got too hot with that one.

machine wash/dry
I just received this and haven't had a chance to put it on my bed but I wanted to clear up an issue that one reviewer mentioned - this mattress pad IS machine washable. The label actually states to NOT dry clean. I am not sure where the other reviewer came up with the idea that it is dry clean only, or perhaps they were talking about a different heated mattress pad.UPDATE: I love this mattress pad. I can't feel the wires at all, it heats up quickly and covers the whole area, no cool spots. My only complaint is the controller is hard to move. It is designed to be on a hard flat surface, otherwise you have to use 2 hands to change the heat settings. Not a big deal.

Love this mattress pad
Love this mattress pad, but don't love getting out of bed now! Only issue is that one remote's low setting numbers don't light up...a problem. Won't want to send it for repair until after the winter!

Awesome product
We've owned an electric blanket before, but this is much better. Can hardly tell it's under the sheets, and it gets warm. My wife set it on 7/10 for the first night was way too warm. If you get cold at night, this is a much better option than keeping the furnace on high.

Love it!
Unit controllerWhen I first plugged the unit in the controllers both flashed and would not stop unless I unplugged the unit. I emailed Sunbeam and asked them about it. Within 2 hours I had a response explaining how to reset the controllers and it has worked perfectly ever since.

best money I've spent in a very long time
best money I've spent in a very long time. Would buy all over again. Love that we can have different heat settings on either side.Downside is that the cords aren't quite long enough. Controls won't sit on nightstand easily because cords need to be just a little longer

... mattress pad I've owned and is bar far the best..
This is my 3rd electric mattress pad I've owned and is bar far the best...good quality, excellent comfort (you don't feel the heating wires) the controllers are lit up so it makes for easy adjustments in the middle of the night...heats really well
