I just received my lamp, but I'm confused with how to put the shade on? The picture says to tighten the fixing ring but then the shade it so low?

You can reference product picture 5 or the product description “Installation Instruction ” 1. Unscrew the shade ring from the lamp holder 2. Place the lampshade on the lamp holder 3. Is it possible for me to replace the shade with a uno shade that i have?

Can you turn this into a dimmable lamp with an adapter?

This is not a high end lamp. It is functional lamp for a student desk or a family desk. Not something you put in an office or expect much from if you are working 8 hours a day. As for adding a dimmer to it, that's out of my experience.
