The Best Of Sam Cooke

I have loved Sam since I was a teenager. Wish he was still here making that good music.

Like many people, I first heard Sam Cooke in that cinematic masterpiece known as Animal House, and have been a fan ever since. This is a great collection of his work, although it does omit tracks from his last album "Ain't That Good New" which contains maybe (at least in my opinion) one of the greatest songs every produced - "A Change is Gonna Come" ... the events that led to Cooke writing that song are sadly typical of that era, but the composition of the final version, the combination of strings and horns used to carry the various verses, is just pure magic. From the same album, "Another Saturday Night" is missing from this collection and no doubt Sam Cooke fans will find other personal favorites that are absent. This is still a 5-star collection though, and at this price it's easy to overlook a few missing pieces.

Great music from a legend....he was murdered just before he started getting really famous. I have heard so many stories about it, but no one really knows the reason. I remember when I was a kid listening to "Chain Gang" I really loved it. Now listening to it brings back so many memories. Sam Cooke was such a great songwriter cut down before his time. Way to young...ANYHOW THIS CD HAS GREAT SONGS ON IT. LOVE IT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. IT'S AT A GREAT AMAZON PRICE TOO....THANK YOU AMAZON...

Even though this is not an audiophile recording per se, my ears hear one. Great selection of songs.. bring it on home to me, you send me, only sixteen wanderful world , chain gaing, cupid, twistin the night away. The only notable 2 missing are another saturday night and change is gonna come. Also very affordable price.

This album sounds so good. The sound is crisper and louder than some of my vinyl albums. I really enjoyed listening to every song, drinking coffee. I am reminded of some more recent artist like Luther Vandross 's (RIP)Bad Boy Having a party, while listening to Sam Cooke's Bad Boy.

This record has all the best of Sam Cooke and it’s brand new for a great price. Wish the instruments came through with a little more boom but the sound is very clean and great. I dare you to try to listen to this record without dancing! Highly recommend buying this record for your collection. Sam Cooke died too young, I wish he lived longer so we could hear more of his amazing talent. God Bless!

I was having a hard time finding this album. It is a reprint, but the sound is great.
